Wisdom is a deep understanding and realization of people, things, events or situations, resulting in the ability to choose or act or inspire to consistently produce the optimum results with a minimum of time, energy or thought. It is the ability to optimally (effectively and efficiently) apply perceptions and knowledge and so produce the desired results. Wisdom is also the comprehension of what is true or right coupled with optimum judgment as to action.

The wisdom of God appears in his purposes and decrees, and which are therefore called his counsels, (Isaiah 25:1) not that they are the effects of consultation with himself or others; but because such resolutions and determinations with men are generally the wisest, which are formed on close thought, on mature deliberation, and on consultation with themselves and others. Thus the decrees of God, which are at once fixed with the highest wisdom, are called counsels; though his counsels are without consultation, and his determinations without deliberation; of which he has no need. As he sees in his understanding, what is fittest to be done, his wisdom directs his will to determine, at once, what shall be done; and this is seen in appointing the end for which they are to be, in ordaining means suitable and conducive to that end; and in pitching upon the most proper time for execution; and in guarding against every thing that may hinder that. The end for which God has appointed all that has been, or shall be, is himself, his own glory, the best end that can be proposed; "the Lord hath made," that is, appointed "all things for himself;" for the glorifying of himself, one or other of the perfections of his nature; for as all things are of him.

Scripture lets everybody know that we are all created in the image of God. (Genesis 1:27) Each of us have some insights, knowledge and wisdom, even as God has seen to give each man a spark of light or faith to seek Him out. "For the grace of God that brings salvation hath appeared to all men. Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world. (Titus 2:11-12) "In Him [Christ] was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shined in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. That was the true Light, which lights every man that comes into the world." (John 1:4-5,9) "But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal." (1 Corinthians 12:7) "And it shall come to pass in the last days, said God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams." (Acts 2:17)

God also gives us five empirical "windows" or senses with which we perceive and interpret the world about us. Psalms 19:1-3 declares, "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard. The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament shows forth His handiwork." Through His creation God is speaking every day and every night to every creature. He is saying, "I am more powerful and more intelligent than you could ever imagine." Will you acknowledge this truth (Psalm 139:14)?

The Bible states this simple truth. "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction." (Proverbs 1:7) When a person begins to recognize that their life is about God and not about them, then that is the beginning of wisdom. How can somebody gain more wisdom and true knowledge? Go to the word of God. "For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven." That means His word is an everlasting and enduring truth one. "I will never forget thy precepts: for with them thou hast quickened me." To quicken is to give life to or regenerate. "I have seen an end of all perfection: but thy commandment is exceeding broad." This last part of the Psalm means that His word covers all topics. It has a blanket effect. "O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day. Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the ancients, because I keep thy precepts." (Psalms 119:89, 93, 96-100) All these Scriptures demonstrate clearly that mind of the Ancient of Days or Christ will give any person great and vast understanding.

This can seen in the Old Testament. "And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore." (1 Kings 4:29) God asked Solomon what he wanted, and because he request was for wisdom to help others out instead of other selfish desires - God gave it to him greatly. We see that in the New Testament that the same principle works with Christians. "For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ." (1 Corinthians 2:16But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

How is it obtained? "Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water (baptism) and of the (Holy) Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." (John 3:5) "Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you." (Luke 17:21) Simply put, the day you put on Christ by belief (Galatians 3:26-28) is the day you were reborn into the Kingdom of God. The Spirit of Almighty God enters in because you asked for it (Matthew 7:7-13; James 1:5-8) even as King Solomon did! You call upon the name of the Lord Jesus (Romans 10:13; Acts 10:36; Acts 22:16; Colossians 3:17) to become His son or daughter.

Imagine that you can have the advice of someone who knows it all from before the beginning of time to personally advise you in all matters. "Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: but we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory." (1 Corinthians 2:6-7) The wisdom is hidden within us. That's where the Holy Spirit dwells. "Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it sees him not, neither knows him: but you know him; for he dwells with you, and shall be in you." (John 14:17).

The Apostle Paul said that wisdom was so great that he claimed to knowing but it. "Yes doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ." (Philippians 3:8) Not everybody will accept this teaching. "But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God." (1 Corinthians 1:24) This present world tries to silence Christians and embarrass them for their beliefs. That will not stop me (or many others). "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith." (Romans 1:16-17)

This Gospel was first preached to the whole world by the Jewish Apostles, and this pattern will occur again in the end. (Matthew 24:14; Revelations 14:1-6; Ezekiel 37:1-10; Acts 1:8; Romans 10:18) History repeats itself. The past becomes the present. "That which has been is now; and that which is to be has already been; and God requires that which is past." (Ecclesiastes 3:15) The pattern of time seems to run in circles rather than in straight lines. Just prior to the Gospel being given to the Gentiles, many Jews rejected it. (Acts 13:16-48; 28:25-29; Romans 11:1-36) And so just before the Jews receive it again it (for one last time), will be mostly not received by the Gentiles. Finally, may this blessing be yours. "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord." (Colossians 3:16)
