Regardless of where you are going on your vacation there is always one question that comes up in your mind: What should I pack? Depending on where you're planning on going on your vacation you're going to have to pack other things alongside the essentials.
One of the most important factors that goes into packing is the weather, which of course varies by season. In Yosemite National Park the weather is known to be a bit unpredictable, but it does have some average temperature depending on the seasons. In the summer the temperature tends to stay in the 70s with nights that drop below freezing in high elevations; in the winter temperatures range from zero to 20°F in the day and sub-zero temperatures at night. Snowfall is also obviously more common during the winter; in the spring and fall the temperatures range from the 30s to the 60s F, and overnight temperatures drop to -5 to -20C, and snowfall is also very common. Keep this in mind when you are packing clothes. Because Yellowstone is known to be unpredictable you should really pack a variety of clothes, but not too much clothes; comfortable layered clothing can work. It is advised to bring a warm jacket and rain gear regardless of season. Hats, gloves, and a couple different types of shoes, depending on the time, can also be good to pack.
Besides clothes, you also may want to consider packing food; not only will packing food save you money, but it could also save you time. Besides dry foods like crackers and other snack, you may also want to consider taking a cooler for cold foods, and buying foods outside the park in neighboring towns. While you are touring the park, you may not want to return to your hotel from your location just to have lunch, and being able to eat in your car can save you that hassle.
You are going to want to remember the time you spent at Yellowstone, so it is important to pack a camera and everything you need for it: batteries, chargers, USB connections, memory cards. You may also want to bring your laptop to download your photos and videos and give your camera more space for more pictures. Your laptop can also be used for other things, such as keeping a travel diary. Although some people love to disconnect from the real-world when on vacation, some electronics can enhance the experience as long as you use it for your trip, and not for work.
As for the essentials, bring what you normally would bring on any trip. Toiletries, sun screen, bug spray, etc are also necessary, and you may want to pack bear spray just to be safe. Be aware that if you buy and pack things that you may never use again, you can gladly donate them to park employees, rangers or other campers for use.
It is advised to make a list of everything you need to bring so that you don't forget anything important. If you do forgot, do not worry, because you can buy something in the stores in the towns near the park or in the park itself. Packing everything you need will save you a bit of time and makes your trip more enjoyable. Lots of people wait until the last minute to pack, but try your best to not rush your packing, so you'll have everything you need.
Alright, after you are geared up with all the things that you need to carry along with you, it’s time to have fun and soak in the wonderments that Yellowstone brings to you. Here is a list of “Things to Do” that helps you in discovering the crowning glories of Yellowstone.
