Chlorine is one of those products that are used at every level of water treatment. Whether this purification is done for drinking or domestic water or for swimming pool, chlorine is extremely powerful to clean almost every kind of water. The water that goes through a chlorination process is even effective in preventing different kinds of waterborne diseases as well as fights against many bacteria and viruses. There are many ways of adding chlorine to water but the most popular one include the chlorinators. Chlorinator systems are basically designed for the purpose of disinfecting drinking and swimming pool water along with controlling the odor of slime and marine growths in water.

Chlorinators are placed into cooling water towers, circulating water as well as service water systems to purify water for different purposes. Various chlorine gas scrubbing system equipments are also seen on board ships, campers, sport centers as well as health centers. All these places utilize the qualities of this scrubbing system to keep their water pure and free from diseases and infections. The process of chlorination used for purifying the water of swimming pool is known as shock chlorination. Shock chlorination purifies the water of swimming pools along with water wells and springs. It reduces the algal residue and bacterias present in these water sources.

In the shock chlorination water treatment process, a large amount of sodium hypochloride is mixed into the water. This sodium substance is available in a powder as well as liquid form like chlorine beach. The water in which this powder or liquid is mixed is prohibited from swimming, bathing or drinking until sodium hypochloride goes deep into the water to three ppm or less. Chlorine scrubbers are quite a popular equipment used in the process of chlorination. The inlet under pressure of these scrubbers are supplied with scrubbing liquid that ultimately forms a large drop in liquid leading to a high velocity liquid spray to pass through the nozzle.

This atomized liquid facilitates a surface area for the transfer of mass from a gas form to liquid form leading to the capturing of particles from the gas phase. The velocity of liquid spray in this case also creates a negative pressure which sucks gas into these chlorine scrubbers. The use of chlorine scrubbers provides certain advantages like low initial cost, small space requirement, continuous removal of gas and particulates, no moving parts, unlimited turndown and many more.
