not in 2003 Overview of study at Harvard Medical School researchers, 108 clinical trials investigated more than 36 different plants with potential antidiabetic properties. Together with a further 9 investigations carried out by using supplements that these studies were 4565 patients with diabetes. Review concluded that 76% of the 58 controlled trials have shown improved glucose control. Botanical research has intensified since 2003, has added more tests.
The new arrangements
NIDDM mechanisms, as well as research carried out vigorously in the last few years. The primary mechanisms in the past focused on the cell membrane and the health of pancreatic beta cells in insulin and glucose sensitivity. Recent studies have revealed several new complexity. Originally associated with obesity, leptin is now thought to participate in the hypothalamus of energy regulation, stimulation of glucose transport and pancreatic beta cell insulin secretion and inhibition. Two recently discovered hormone resistin and adiponectin. Resistin was associated with glucose tolerance and hepatic insulin resistance. Adiponectin is associated with the regulation of glucose and lipid metabolism. Produced by fat cells, adiponectin and resistin, and also, apparently, to mediate PPAR-gamma: the modernization of resistin and adiponectin via PPAR modulation decreased insulin resistance. Enzymes are now thought to be a very important mechanism. One enzyme seemingly instrumental leptin regulation tangential to PPAR-gamma repression of SIRT1. Sirtuins have been linked to diabetic mechanism because of their ability to affect gene expression of degenerative glucose and insulin metabolism.
SIRT1 appears to balance the blood sugar changes in PGC-1alpha molecule. PGC 1alpha is a transcriptional co-activator. When SIRT1 was inhibited in vivo, this increased hypoglycemia, increased glucose and insulin sensitivity, as well as increased free fatty acids and cholesterol. On the other hand increased SIRT1 expression changes in these effects, but only in PGC-1alpha during fasting. Yet another recently discovered hormone, diabetes and related forms of amylin. Amylin is co-secreted insulin and insulin supplement their activities with feedback mechanisms. Other components of these mechanisms is complicated by glucocorticoids and circulating lipids. These various mechanisms associated with NIDDM compound stress, hypertension, visceral obesity, elevated triglycerides, small dense LDL, decreased HDL, and, of course, a diet high in refined sugar and low in fiber.
Whole foods and exercise
Most doctors now know that eating whole foods and exercising is one of the best ways to stabilize blood glucose levels. Whole foods is a variety of soluble fiber such as pectin and beta-glucans, known to slow glucose absorption rate and bind LDL cholesterol.
Oats: Avena sativa L.
Oats are one of the best sources of fiber and potent beta-1 ,3-D-glucan and beta-1 ,4-D-glucan sources, as well as avenanthramides-polyphenol research at Tufts University and the USDA Human Nutrition Center as shown in the LDL oxidation and antioxidant protective . Finnish randomized controlled trial, twelve patients with NIDDM, eat more beta-glucan oat snacks showed decrease fasting glucose tolerance, and load levels than the controls. This mechanism involves the activity of digestive enzymes and lipid modulation of deceleration. Other studies have shown oat bran's ability to reduce total cholesterol and LDL levels reduced the postprandial glucose and insulin. There are some products that offer higher oat fiber versions. Bran concentrate can offer up to 50% beta-glucan. Nature may be enhanced by beta-glucan, as well. Over the past few years a new breed of high beta-glucan/high avenanthramide oats called HiFi oats were derived North Dakota State University. Symbol ® can be up to 50% higher than in most other oat beta-glucan.
Mushrooms
Medicinal mushrooms contain beta-1 ,3-D-glucan with beta-1 ,6-D-glucan, and alpha-1 ,4-glucans contribute to their glycemic and immune function benefits. In addition to assessment of beta-D-glucan, mushrooms of various enzymes, sterols and triterpenes. Improved sensitivity to insulin, increased glucose uptake and binding of insulin-like activity and enhance the immune response was observed between the number of mushroom research. Studies have shown, the oyster mushroom, maitake, cordyceps, Tremella fuciformis, Agaricus Blazei Murrill, and Jelly Ear fungus Auricularia diabetes. Maitake appears that most research. Glycemic benefits have been shown in many fungi.
Pinus pinaster
From the French maritime pine tree bark extract native France. It was more than 200 studies, of which 50 were human. The mechanism appears to slow glucose absorption and improve blood lipids and increase microcirculation. Large procyanidin molecules inhibit alpha-glucosidase enzyme glucose absorption.
Fenugreek
Trigonella foenum-graecum local and western Asia, Southeast Europe and North Africa. It is also cultivated in many other areas. Glucose control using traditional herbs, fenugreek has a long history of success. The crushed seeds of alkaloids, coumarins and saponins. Its principle active ingredient is 4 hydroxyisoleucine. In one study, 17 of 21 NIDDM patients' blood glucose levels decrease an average of 30 mg / dl, then add 15 g of ground fenugreek seeds. In another, 60 NIDDM volunteers reduced fasting blood glucose concentration, the average of 151 mg / dL to 112 mg / dl after 24 weeks, using a dose of 12.5 mg twice a day. Other studies have confirmed fenugreek action to reduce fasting blood sugar levels, along with total cholesterol and triglycerides.
