Some common traditions of men versus the word of God. The fact is that Jesus came to set us free from man-made traditions that take away from His truth. (Mark 7:8; John 8:32; Colossians 2:8-10) There's nothing to be gained but rather a loss for all those who reject His word and take on the commandments of men instead. Paul said, "Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof (Jesus): from such turn away. They shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Some common traditions of men versus the word of God. The fact is that Jesus came to set us free from man-made traditions that take away from His truth. (Mark 7:8; John 8:32; Colossians 2:8-10) There's nothing to be gained but rather a great loss for all those who reject His word and take on the commandments of men instead. "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." (Matthew 7:21-23) The fact is that I know many trinitarians who cannot really understand what this verse means is because they fail to baptize in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ! These people casted out devils, did miracles such as heal the sick, but failed here to apply the name of where it counts the most, in the New Birth (Born Again by the water and Holy Spirit) experience. (John 3:5) You noticed that these trintarians failed to do this or they would have said so here. This will be a very sad day when billions of them are turned away because their leaders changed the word of God over the years, to mean something other than what Jesus and His Apostles instructed us. If you are still doubting this article, then read this verse and ask yourself have you truly obeyed the truth of God's word yet? "And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him." You are the friends of God if you do as He commands you. "Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful." (Proverbs 27:6) It's my job as the servant of the Lord to speak His word truthfully and without cost, even as Christ said and did while He was upon the earth. May the Lord Jesus bless you richly as you trust Him alone.
The Word of God says:
“He who believes and is baptized shall be saved “ (Mark 16:16)
Denominations teach:
He who believes and is saved, should be baptized
The Word of God says:
“Repent and be baptized everyone of you for the (remission) forgiveness of your sins” (Acts 2:38)
Denominations teach:
Repent and be baptized because your sins have already been forgiven
The Word of God says:
Jesus answered, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." (John 3:5)
Denominations teach:
Baptism is not essential for salvation. This “birth of water” is natural childbirth.
The Word of God says:
“Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” (Romans 6:4)
Denominations teach:
We were buried therefore with him by belief into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
The Word of God says:
“There is one body, and one Spirit, even as you are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.” (Ephesians 4:4-5)
Denominations teach:
There are many baptisms and many bodies, and many faiths.
The Word of God says:
“Which sometime were disobedient, when once the long suffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. The like figure where unto even baptism does also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.”(1 Peter 3:20-21)
Note: Look at the above verse carefully. It teaches the water of Noah’s flood is a symbol of baptism--and baptism saves us. So this verse actually states two times that water baptism saves us!
Denominations teach:
Baptism does not save you--baptism is merely a symbol.
The Word of God says:
“Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. ” (Colossians 2:12)
Denominations teach:
Baptism is a work of Man.
The Word of God says:
“For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:26-28)
Denominations teach:
Baptism does not put us into Christ--belief alone does.
The Word of God says:
“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” (Matthew 28:18-20)
Denominations teach:
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, telling them to pray for me to come into their life, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age.
The Word of God says:
“And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what does hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If you believe with all thine heart, you may. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing. ” (Acts 8:36-39)
Denominations teach:
Baptism is required, but not in water. Baptism is in “spirit”.
And if water is used, sprinkling or pouring is ok.
And candidate for baptism need not believe (such as with infants).
The Word of God says:
“And now why tarriest thou (do you wait)? Arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. ” (Acts 22:16)
Denominations teach:
Paul had been praying and fasting for three days at this point, and called Jesus, “Lord” - so he was already saved. Baptism had nothing to do with having his sins washed away.
The Word of God says:
“You see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.” (James 2:24)
Denominations teach:
We are justified by faith alone.
The Word of God says:
“And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.“ (Colossians 3:17)
Note: Paul who was baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus, he also wrote the above Scripture and baptized others only in the name of Jesus. See Acts 16:15, 31-33; 18:8; 19:1-5; 1 Corinthians 1:1-24. Peter baptized in the name of Jesus Christ alone. See Acts 2:38; 8:12-18; 10:1-48. He also said neither is there salvation in any other name but the one of Jesus (Acts 4:10-12). John wrote that as well (John 10:9; 14:6). Matthew was with Peter on the day of Pentecost and helped to baptize 3,000 converts into the name of Jesus! He along with the others knew that the name of Jesus Christ was the name of the whole family of God. See Matthew 1:21; John 5:43; 14:26; Ephesians 3:14-15. The Apostles all agreed that Jesus was the name of God, and never once used the father, son and Holy Ghost formula. Nobody until Catholic-Greek philosopher Justin Martyr in 165 A.D. used any other formula (in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ). Even then he used a slightly extended Trinity formula with the name of Jesus still in the middle of it. He was a layman and not even Pastor or Bishop. From that source along with another heretic named Tertullian (by their own standards he was so because he left them, and joined a Jesus name baptismal group), the Catholics began using the Trinity formula.
Denominations teach:
In the name of the father, and of the son and of the Holy Ghost. This formula has no power (Matthew 28:18)!
