Indonesia auto market is one of the fastest growing market of Asia. Tata Motors Ltd might build a production unit to manufacture its Nano small car in Indonesia. Tata Motors is going through the process of research and development, and conducting a feasibility study to establish a feasibility study to plant a facility in Jakarta. As per the officials of the Tata Motors the plan of manufacturing a facility in Indonesia not only boosts the sales of Tata Motors in the untapped market of Indonesia but it also helps the company to to get a foothold in the adjoining markets of Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines. The year 2010 is a record year for all these four markets of South East Asia in terms of robust economic growth, rising consumer confidence levels and affordable credit.
As per a forecast and research firm, JD Power and Associates the sales of light vehicle in the Asian automotive market enhanced from 36% to 22.3 million units as compared to the previous year. Among all these four growing market JD Powers places the biggest bet on Indonesia. The market of Indonesia is almost like the Indian auto market. Earlier Tata Motors were planning to establish this facility in Thailand where the company is producing the Xenon and Ace trucks. However, those plans have been lay aside and shelved in favor of Indonesia.
Tata Motors is planning to start the production from this new facility by the year 2013. besides, producing the Tata Nano, the world cheapest car this facility will also produce some variants of Ace range. It is expected that this facility is capable of producing 50,000 units of Nano and Ace every year.
Earlier as a part of international expansion Tata Motors has already started exporting Tata Nano to Sri Lanka. As per Prakash M. Telang, managing director, India operations company is producing 12,000 to 15,000 units of Tata Nano form Sanand Gujarat. Tata Nano review reveals it as a worlds cheapest and popular hatchback. is starts from Rs 1,15,000 (ex showroom New Delhi) for its base model.
