Indica was later rechristened as India V2 or version 2. All the visible shortcomings in the old Indica were removed in the new India V2. The all-new Indica Vista Is bigger in size and interior space, but its contemporary styling and sharp lines give it a compact sporty look. The new petal-shaped headlamps add e dash of panache to the front and the new characteristic vertically-stacked tall lamps are unique in its class. The 1.4L diesel engine of Tata Indica V2 delivers a power of 54.2 hp @ 5000 rpm and 85.0 Nm of torque @ 2500 rpm. On the other hand, the petrol engine (1.4L) of the vehicle churns out a maximum power of 60.8 hp @ 5000 rpm and a torque of 105.0 Nm @ 2500 rpm.The engine of Tata Indica V2 is quite similar to the one found in the companys earlier versions of pick-ups and SUV, with the exception of a reduced stroke. The new DICOR variants come equipped with a 1.4L Direct Injection Common Rail (DICOR) engine – the latest in diesel-engine technology from Tata. This engine dishes out 69 bhp of power @4000 rpm and 140 Nm of torque @1800-3000 rpm.
The Indica offers affordable motoring for masses particularly with its diesel variant as well as plenty of space on the inside. However it is not as refined and overall quality needs a bump up. The dim-witted gear change also needs changing. But Tatas constant improvements over the years have made the Indica a much better car for now. Indica V2 is suitable for Indian roads.
