<h1>Skoda Rapid petrol to hit Indian roads on 16th November </h1><strong> Author: <a href='http://www.articleseen.com/profile_news125.aspx'>news125</a></strong><br /><p><p>The Czech auto major, Skoda India is all set to launch its all new sedan Skoda Rapid in India 16th November 2011. As per reports Skoda Rapid is basically based on Volkswagen Vento platform and looks quite similar to Vento, apart from Skoda logo and slight modifications in the interior. The sedan car is being manufactured at the Volkswagen Chakan Plant near Pune, where Volkswagen Vento is also being manufactured. It is also speculated that company will bring Skoda Rapid with a five speed manual gearbox for both the petrol and diesel variant, but there will also be an option for an automatic gearbox for the petrol variant. Though it is expected that company will not bring Skoda Rapid diesel automatic. is yet to be announced by the company, but it is expected that car will be priced around Rs 6.7 lakh, which makes it the second cheapest sedan car in India after Nissan Sunny.</p> <p>Skoda Rapid will be introduced in three different variants which are Skoda Rapid Active, the base variant, Skoda Rapid Ambition, the mid variant and the top end variant that is Skoda Rapid Elegance. Meanwhile Volkswagen Vento is being offered in only two variants that are Vento Trendline and Vento Highline.</p> <p>Skoda Rapid review suggest that the carboosts of better style and offers a better performance in comparition to other sedan cars of same segment. The car will be powered by the same 1.6 litre petrol and diesel engine, which currently powers the Volkswagen Vento. The 1.6 liter petrol engine is capable of producing a maximum power of 105 Bhp and a peak torque of 160 Nm, while the 1.6 liter diesel engine of the car is capable of generating a peak power of 105 Bhp and a maximum torque of 250 Nm. The petrol variant of the car delivers a decent mileage of around 12 Kmpl in the city and 14 Kmpl on the highways. While, the diesel version of car offers a mileage of 16 Kmpl.</p> <p>Reports suggest that car does not sports a steering mounted audio controls but the all new sedan will adorn various safety features like Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic BrakeForce Distribution system (EBD) and dual rate brake assist which surely improves its braking system and avoid skidding during its run on slippery roads.
