Skoda Rapid carries Vento's genes

The latest edition of Skoda has been on the cards for quite a while, known as Skoda Rapid- a Vento in the Skoda's stable.

The latest edition of Skoda has been on the cards for quite a while, known as Skoda Rapid- a Vento in the Skoda's stable. Though both the cars share similar grounds but is expected to fall less than Volkswagen Vento. It is expected that the Skoda Rapid will start from Rs 6.7 lakh for its base variant and goes up to Rs 9.2 lakh for its top end variant (ex-showroom Mumbai).

The Czech Republic car major Skoda has designed this new sedan keeping in mind the Indian buyers. Instead the new Skoda Rapid get breath with the same heart of Volkswagen Vento, it will come adorn with some unique features that render it look different from the Volkswagen Vento. Form the front the sedan gives the resemblance to Skoda Fabia hatchback. The aerodynamic design with halogen lights, swept back headlamps give the Skoda a sporty and elegant look. Further the square-shaped fog lamps packed at the front are quite similar to Skoda Fabia when viewed head on. The side view of the Rapid is similar to the Vento as it will be dressed with same elegant and pleasing waistline.

Skoda Rapid review suggests that the interiors of the sedan are common in both the diesel and petrol models and differs from variant to variant. Like Volkswagen Vento, the dashboard in the Skoda Rapid is designed in multi colors like grey, tan and a smidgeon of chrome. The seats are very comfortable and luxurious with enough boot and head space. Further there are lots of little compartments to store everything from water bottles to loose change.

The new Skoda Rapid will come powered with two engine options one is 1.6 Multi Point Injection petrol and the other is 1.6 TDI diesel. Further along with the engine options, one can also choose either a manual or an automatic transmission, with the petrol variant. The1.6 litre TDi unit will churns out the maximum power of 105 PS @ 4400 rpm and top torque of 250 Nm @1500-2500 rpm. Where as the Skoda Rapid petrol variant powered with a 1.6 litre MPI unit also generates the power of 105 PS @ 5250 rpm but churns out the different torque of 153 Nm @ 3800 rpm. The new sedan will be available in three trims Viz. Skoda Rapid Active, Skoda Rapid Ambition and Skoda Rapid Elegance.
