Genesis 1:14-19, And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the fourth day. Often the stars, comets, or planets will show forth signs that are reflected upon the earth. There are seven types of cosmic signs mentioned in prophecies throughout the Bible. These are tied into events foretold that would happen in the last days prior to the Lord’s return: • A sackcloth sun (Revelations 6:12) • A bloody Moon (Revelations 6:12) • Great signs in the heavens (Luke 21:25) • Fearful signs in the heavens (Luke 21:11) • Stars falling from heavens (Matthew 24:20) • A Darkening of the constellations (Isaiah 13:10) • The powers of heaven are shaken (Luke 21:26) Revelations 6:12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood. Luke 21:25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring. Revelations 6:12 - And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood. Luke 21:11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. Isaiah 13:10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine. Luke 21:26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. Matthew 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken. Various Signs And Their meanings According to Jewish Rabbinic tradition, an eclipse should be interpreted according to the following: (Talmud - Mas. Sukkah 29a) (The last pair are reversed in the minds of some.) •Solar: a bad omen for idolaters •Lunar: a bad omen for Israel •Red Moon at Lunar eclipse: a sword is coming for the whole world •Black Moon at Lunar eclipse: the arrows of famine are coming to the world •Both red and black moon: both sword and famine •In the East: specifically for those who live in the East •In the West: specifically for those who live in the West •In the midst of heaven: for the whole world •At sunset: the calamity will tarry in its coming •At dawn: the calamity is forthcoming I can neither confirm or deny the veracity of the above interpretations, but I wanted you to know that these are assigned such meanings by the traditions of the religious leaders of Israel. According to recent orbital calculations by astronomers, (Daniel W.E. Green of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics) this same comet we now call Hale-Bopp passed through the inner solar system once before, about 4210 years ago. The Flood began 1656 years from Adam, in the Fall of the year we know as 2238 BC. That was 4234 years ago. If the comet appeared somewhere around 4210 years, it was the time of the great flood. According to what is recorded in the Seder Olam Rabah, an ancient Jewish text, we may observe that a comet appeared at about the time Noah began building the ark. It was probably the comet we know now as Hale-Bopp. Astronomer Bob Wadsworth has noted that Hale-Bopp, as seen from earth, spends most of its time in the constellation Pavo. It (Pavo) was previously known as Argos, appears to represent Noah, the builder of the ark of which Argo is likely a symbol. Another association with Noah is seen in connection with the year that began when the comet was actually seen in Argo. The Jewish accounting of the year which began in September of 1997 was the year numbered 5758. In Hebrew, it is composed of the four letters tav, shin, nun, chet and can be viewed as an acrostic meaning "season of Noah." As the Rabbis like to say, "Coincidence is not a kosher word." Do you think that this comet may have been a sign of the impending destruction of the world? But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Matthew 24:37 By the sign of the rainbow, God's promise not to destroy the earth again by water still stands. However, the Earth will be destroyed by fire. What was evidently a portent of the first destruction could well be the same for the next. Consider the following prophetic declaration. Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men 2 Peter 3:3-7 The next heavenly events will happen in a few years. In 2015, a total solar eclipses will occur on the Jewish New Year on 20 March 2015 and a total lunar eclipse on 4 April 2015, which is the day after the First Holy Day beginning the Feast of Unleavened Bread. There is a partial solar eclipse on the Day of Trumpets on Sunday, 13 September 2015. On Sunday, 27 September, on the First Holy Day of the Feast of Tabernacles, there is a total Lunar Eclipse. Some people account these happenings as signals of ominous events yet to occur. God is using the universe to warn us of things to come, there's no doubt to that. But are these the final signs? And when is the end? Only time will tell us all for certain.
