• Although most people erroneously believe it to have been originated in Asia, the fortune cookie was actually first baked in San Francisco at the Japanese Tea Garden.
• The Golden Gate Bridge is so massive that it is constantly being painted as by the time the crew finishes painting, it is time to start all over again to maintain its spectacular look. This process takes about four years for the team to completely paint the bridge before they have to start over again and requires about two tons of paint per week.
• Irish coffee was first conjured up in the city of San Francisco, not Ireland.
• More than 300 coffee shops call San Francisco home
• Denim jeans were invented in San Francisco during the Gold Rush as miners were in need of stronger, more comfortable pants to wear when mining.
• San Francisco was originally named Yerba Buena, or “Good Herb”.
• Thinking of taking a San Francisco tour? You’re not alone. San Francisco is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the United States, attracting more than 17 million visitors each year to this beautiful city.
• The Golden Gate Bridge was named after the harbor in Constantinople, called the ”Golden Home”.

This was originally meant to be a primer for the actual color for the bridge; however the contrast with the Marin County countryside and the way the color showed through the fog resulted in citizens keeping the bridge this same color.
• The Beatles’ last concert was held at Candlestick Park on August 29th, 1966. They began this historic concert with “Rock and Roll Music” and ended it with “Long Tall Sally”. This event lasted all of 33 minutes.
• The first transcontinental call between Alexander Graham Bell and his assistant Thomas Watson was made between New York and San Francisco. What did Bell say on this historic call? “Mr. Watson, come here, I want you.”
