A new interactive coloring card has been developed to help children learn the ABC’s. This origami-style card uses an interactive cross design which forms a never-ending sequence of panels that can be used to teach children the alphabet as well as other subjects.
Most traditional ways of teaching the alphabet only incorporate one way of learning, but the design of this card, however, uses multiple activities that involve children in different ways of learning.
1. The card allows children to color in each letter allowing them to use their creativity on the card and make the card uniquely their own.
2. The letter of the alphabet is pictured with an animal to help make a connection.
3. The card itself makes a never-ending loop for continuous learning.
4. The card is folded and turned over and over to create the never-ending loop. This engages the children in a fun activity as they go through their letters.
5. Because each letter is on a separate panel, children learn the alphabet in the correct order.
Before kindergarten, children should learn the alphabet and be able to tell the difference between letters. One good way to do this is by making a game out of learning the ABC’s instead of simply using flash cards or other items. The interactive cross design allows learning to be made into a game. Once a child is done coloring the cards, parents can create a game that will help children continue to learn the alphabet.
Studies have shown that learning the alphabet and developing awareness for phonics are keys to successful readers. Children who learn the ABC’s early are more academically inclined, emotionally stable, and better students. Young children are often motivated and learn more easily when they are taught in a playful and fun manner. That was the concept behind these ABC cards. Children are fascinated with the interactive cross cards in general. No matter what the subject, children love using this interactive card, and it captures their attention for a long while. The interactive nature of the card makes it fun even for older children.
In fact, this interactive cross learning method has already been used in other subjects to great success. A number of these origami-style cards have been developed to teach Bible stories and Bible memory verses for kids. Some of the stories include Moses and the Ten Commandments, Moses Parting the Red Sea, Noah, and the Christmas Story.
