Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. (Ephesians 5:16)
When God advises us to do certain things, we must react upon His words. Let's break down these two concepts which are given to all people, and especially to those of the house of faith. Redeeming the time. The word "redeeming," means "to purchase; to buy up" from the possession or power of anyone; and then to redeem, to set free. Here it means, to rescue or recover our time from waste; to improve it for great and Godly purposes.

Here it means, to rescue or recover our time from waste; to improve it for great and important purposes.
Time is given to us in order to accomplish valuable purposes. There are enough things to be done to occupy it all in the purposes of God. A person who sees the need of just one soul to be saved from eternal death does not have one idle moment. Every person has just enough of time granted to them to accomplish all of the purposes which God designs, and God has not given them more than enough. People redeem their time when they use it:
(1) in gaining useful knowledge;
(2) in doing good to others;
(3) in employing it for the purpose of an honest livelihood for themselves and families;
(4) in prayer and self-examination to make the heart better;
(5) in seeking salvation, and in endeavoring to do the will of God.
People are to redeem time from all that would waste or destroy it. All that we do should give glory to God. We are commanded to give God our best and our all. All that is in the world is the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life. We are told to use the world and not abuse it. Knowing that anything unlike God will pass away, but he the does the will of God abides forever.
Because the days are evil. The present times are dangerous, they are full of trouble and temptations, and only the watchful and diligent have any reason to expect that they shall keep their garments unspotted. The days are evil; as such are, in which iniquity abounds, and many wicked men live, and errors and heresies prevail, and are days of affliction or persecution. We are living in the same exact circumstances as Noah did. Then as today the world was filled with violence everywhere, men only thought of evil continually and many were greatly involved in the pleasures or riches of this life only. Every person is doing what right in their own eyes. Everything goes in society like that, as long as there's no single standard to uphold righteousness people can freely justify their own wicked ways. That's why Christians are being silenced by political correctness as never before. It's all an attempt to allow sin abound without rebuke. Yet one day soon God will upset the plans of these evil councilors. He will see to the destruction of this wicked system. Before that happens though their tables will become filled with extreme filth, and only when their iniquity is ripe will they be judged by Him.
