Nissan Micra petrol was first launched in Indian auto segment on 15 July 2010. It is the first small hatchback from Japanese auto major in India and got mixed reactions from the Indian crowd. In order to improve its market value soon after the launch of petrol Micra, company introduces the diesel variant of the small hatchback in India. Nissan Micra diesel got overwhelming response from the car buyers in India and sells in large number. Company launched Micra in total of 6 models both in petrol and diesel options. for petrol variant is tagged at Rs. 4,10,500 and reaches a height of Rs. 5,38,300, Whereas the price for diesel Micra starts from Rs. 5,69,670 and goes up to Rs. 6.14 lakh.

The petrol variant of small hatchback is powered by the 1.2Litre DOHC, 12 valve, 3 cylinder petrol engine with Electronic Fuel Injection control system that produces maximum power of 76 PS at 6,000 RPM and peak torque of 104 Nm at 4,000 RPM. The engine of the car is mated with a 5 speed manual transmission gearbox. The diesel variant of the Nissan Micra adorns a 1.5 Litre SOHC 8 valve, 4 cylinder common rail diesel engine that is capable of producing a peak output of 64 PS at 4000 RPM and churn out top torque of 160 NM at 2000 RPM. The diesel engine of the car incorporates five speed manual transmission gearbox. The car attains a maximum speed of 160 Kmph and reaches from zero to 100 in just 14.5 seconds. The petrol version of the car offers a fuel efficiency of 14 Kmpl in the city and 18 Kmpl on the highway whereas the diesel variant of the car offers an excellent mileage 18.5 Kmpl in the city and 23.08 on the highway.

Nissan Micra adorns various safety features like ABS (Anti-lock Brake System) with EBD (Electronic Brake-Force Distribution) and Brake Assist, electric Power-assisted steering which provides a better braking option in the car and avoid skidding while driving on slippery roads. The car features a front suspension from MacPherson strut type and rear forks are torsion beam type. The diesel variant of the car lacks in ABS, EBD and Brake Assist to make it more cost effective.
