Maruti Swift reached this sales mark about five years after its launch in 2005. The Maruti Swift comes in a 1.2 litre K-series petrol engine and a 1.3 litre DDiS diesel engine. The Maruti Swift stable came up with an all new K-series engine, which is compliant with Bharat IV norms and has brought the car in the top five list. The engine is also present in Maruti Ritz and lifts the overall performance of Swift. The new 1.2 litre engine produces 84bhp power, which is 3bhp less than the old 1.3 litre G13B unit. The engine has made the Swift a lot swifter. The car sprints effortlessly and has become easy to handle. Even at a low rpm of 1500 the responsive engine makes the car lunge forward anxiously. Even the fuel economy seems to have improved thereby bringing the car neck to neck with its newly launched counterparts. Maruti Swift has a 1.3L, diesel engine provided by Fiat and adored by Swift buyers. The engine is a good performer and has made Maruti Swift a much loved car. The car is a natural sprinter and accelerates effortlessly and is easy to handle. The car maneuvers beautifully even at low rpm and the fuel economy seems is an added advantage. Overall the diesel engine of Maruti Swift makes it one of the top searched cars in this category. The Maruti Swift is very popular and with the all new K-series engine it is BS IV compliant and giving tough competition to the newly launched counterparts. There is still a waiting period for the car and right now the waiting period for the petrol variant is 2-3 months and that of the diesel variant is up to 4 months. To meet this steep demand Maruti has increased the production of the car, including the diesel variant, to over 12,000 units every month from the present production number of about 5,000 units. The Maruti Swift kept up the standards set by previous Maruti cars when Maruti Swift was launched in India on May 25, 2005.
