Car Insurance website confused.com has revealed that the Ford Ka is the least stolen car amongst its customers. The price comparison website states that not one of its customers has claimed for the theft of a Ford Ka since 1994, meaning it has a theft rate of less than 1 in 5000. Experts claim that it’s because the Ka has “no street cred among thieves”, but interestingly, the most stolen car is the Toyota Yaris, which is not exactly a highly desirable model. Approximately one in every 244 Toyota Yaris cars is stolen, and this is followed by the Volkswagen Touareg, with 1 in 256 lost to thieves.

Other models that are also less likely to be stolen include the Chevrolet Matiz, Hyundai i10 Comfort and Nissan Skyline, all which have tiny theft rates of 1 in 5000 or less.

Now, if you own a Toyota Yaris, it’s not exactly simple to change your car to a Ford. Bracknell, Slough and Oxford car owners, and car owners throughout the UK can make a few simple changes to make your car less attractive to thieves however:

Take care of your car and don’t leave it in an untidy state. Thieves are more likely to break in if your car is in a mess and there is more chance that something valuable is hidden within the car. A messy car also suggests that you have left the car in a rush, meaning you may have left something valuable by mistake, like a mobile phone or cash.

Always park your car on your driveway if you have one. The closer your car is to you, the less likely a thief will target it. Also, always drive straight onto a driveway instead of reversing, and turn the wheels when parking. This makes the vehicle less desirable to a thief as it will take more effort to move it.

Finally, cars with fluffy toys are apparently less likely to be stolen, so if in doubt, add some fluffy friends to your car!
