The Hyundai Verna Fluidic is the next level Verna saloon. The new fluidic comes in both the fuel variants. The car is available in two variants for the petrol and diesel motors. The car starts with the price range of Rs 6.99 lakh for the entry level gasoline car and goes around Rs 10.74lakh for the high end diesel variant (prices ex-showroom Delhi). The Verna fluidic is truly a car for the modern civilization with some really catchy and styling curves on the body. This is somewhat similar to the style statement of the Hyundai i10 as well.
The new Verna’s catchy and curvy cues clearly lavishes on the ‘Fluidic Sculpture’ design language. This is further more evident in the clean lines flowing across the entire body of the car. The grille and the headlights are a rip off from the new i10 while the fog lamps at the bottom looks like a never before. The interiors of the car are the usual dual-toned giving the car a neat and nice fit and finish.
This car also gets to house the latest Gamma petrol and U2 diesel motors under the hood which is the best in class compared to its rivals in the same segment. The engine specifications for the petrol and diesels both come with 1.4 and 1.6-litre capacities with different power outputs. The 1.4 litre diesel engine coughs up 90bhp which is similar to the engine that currently powers the Hyundai i20 and therefore this version of Verna will not be as swift as the hatch. The refined engine is more suited to the economical usage and for everyday driving. The 1.6-litre CRDi diesel engine is the one that comes to the fore with its thumping powering that pumps out 126bhp and 26.5kgm of torque.
The high tech Gamma petrol twin cam engine from the Hyundai is a 16-valve motor that comes with continuously variable valve timing and this invariably leads to better power and torque outputs making for quite a healthy driving experience. The 1.4 litre engine powers up to a maximum of 106.5bhp. The 1.6 Gamma coughs up 122bhp clearly showing who is the boss with the most powerful engine in its class.
The car is based on a completely novel platform with a huge wheel base of 2570mm. It is also heavily studded with some ultra-high tensile strength steel. This means that you can now expect the car to listen to you more eagerly with improved handling and better NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) levels. All this is a result of Hyundai spending a whopping Rs. 900crore in the development of the new Verna. The car is expected to be in direct rivalry with the Honda City.
The highlights of the car are it is the first in the segment to offer an all-round protection with 6 airbags - 2 curtain airbags running along the length of the cabin, 2 side airbags and 2 for the driver and front passenger. The engine is also the best in the segment and is also optimized in such a way that it does not lose out on optimum efficiency without compromising on power.
