If you’ve seen a great deal offering radiators for sale, you might worry it’s too good to be true – especially if they’ve been removed from houses – but there’s a good couple of rules of thumb that can support you in deciding whether you can buy the items in question or if you should pass and look for a deal that you can trust.

If you’ve seen a great deal offering radiators for sale, you might worry it’s too good to be true – especially if they’ve been removed from houses – but there’s a good couple of rules of thumb that can support you in deciding whether you can buy the items in question or if you should pass and look for a deal that you can trust.
- Are you getting them from a trustworthy source?
This doesn’t need to be a big company – if you know the group you’re buying them from has sold antique or new pieces like this in the past and there’s no complaints, if they are a highly rated auction house, or even if their feedback is good on eBay, you’ll probably find that it’s safe to buy them. But beware, and be aware of your return rights – while it sometimes seems straightforward, you may find that your right of return isn’t guaranteed or straightforward, especially during auctions
- Do you have to ship them?
If the price is good, but they are ‘pickup only’ or don’t include delivery, you may want to make sure the cost isn’t too high including pickup. If you don’t need to pick them up, make sure your delivery charges aren’t too expensive.
- Are you sure of the price, including the extras?
If you’re using a company all in one to fit your radiators as well as source them, are you sure of all the extras. While the price of the radiators may be low, the cost of installing them may be higher than you may expect, which may mean sourcing the radiators separately can save you money away from installation fees.
- Do you really need all of them?
Some packages have so many radiators you may find that you don’t need them all – in which case, you may need a plan to get rid of the rest of them. Radiator ‘spares’ aren’t usually required, so you may want to either split the items in question, auction the spares, or find out if there’s a smaller package available.
- Can you wait?
On the other side of the coin, if you’re planning on doing a refit, and you’ve got the chance to wait, you may want to hold off on your plans until the January or summer sales, or on the other hand, take advantage of them if you have some storage because those sales, especially in hardware stores, are usually the best at the time.
No matter what radiator you choose to buy, whether you get them on or off sale, you’ll find that your radiators are elegant and work well in place – getting them on sale is just the icing on the cake.
