Japanese auto giant in India, Honda Siel Cars India, is planning to manufacture diesel cars for Indian auto industry. Now-a-days continuous instability in petrol prices and high lending rates effects the sales of petrol cars in the country and more crowd is moving towards other fuel options like LPG and diesel. As we all know Honda cars are still waiting for diesel powertrains which severely affects the sale of company in the country. Honda India is facing a stiff competition in all segments as Indian buyers prefers to buy other cars which incorporates diesel and LPG engines. As per recent estimations company reported falling sales in the month of September. So as a market strategy or need company aims to introduce their vehicles with diesel fuel option.
One of the senior official of the company mentions that the Research and Development team of the company in Japan is working very hard for developing diesel engines. In order to cope up with market requirements company plans to introduce Diesel variant of its flagship models Honda City, Civic, Accord and Brio in the market by the mid of next year. In recent past City sedan face tough competition in mid-sized segment due to high traffic in the segment as many of the companies had launched their classy products. In mid-sized segment diesel City sedan will compete against the likes of Ford Fiesta, Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid and Nissan Sunny.
The company yet to unveil the exact launch date of diesel cars in India but one of the senior official of the company said that the proposed diesel motors has been developed for a specific market such as India as most of the countries prefer petrol cars. Somehow company reveals some of the details of Honda Accord Diesel which suggest that company first incorporate diesel engine in Accord to boost its sales and to compete in the current Indian market. As per information Honda Accord likely to house a common rail diesel engine which offers a a total displacement of 2200 cc. This engine will generate a peak power of 134 horses amd pumps out 347 Nm of maximum torque. The exterior and interior of the car remains the same but the only difference is the powerplant. The biggest competitors of the car are Skoda Superb Diesel, the Mercedes C-Class, BMW 3-series and the VW Passat.
