Drinking and Driving Penalties

The law in Texas places a fine of about $5,000.00 dollars and 90 days in jail for people caught drinking and driving. In many countries though, the penalty for this offense is much greater. The penalty for first time offenders of drinking and driving in El Salvador is death by firing squad. No repeat offenders! Twice in Bulgaria is too much, the second time you commit this act and you will be executed. Russia bans first time offenders from driving for one year. Do it again and it's for life.
The law in Texas places a fine of about $5,000.00 dollars and 90 days in jail for people caught drinking and driving. However, if they are apprehended again the penalties worsen. In many countries though, the penalty for this offense is much greater. Here are but a few examples with the worst listed first.

The penalty for first time offenders of drinking and driving in El Salvador is death by firing squad. No repeat offenders!

Twice in Bulgaria is too much, the second time you commit this act and you will be executed.

South Africa send drunks who drive to jail for ten years with a ten thousand dollar fine.

In Israel, driving under the influence of alcohol lands a person in jail for two years; that's mandatory.

Malasia sends convicted male offenders of this offense to jail along with their wives!

France suspends your license for three years and $1,000.00 dollar fines ready for those who are convicted.

Italy suspends the license first time offenders for one year and jails you for three months. If you do again within five years then you will never drive there again legally.

Russia bans first time offenders from driving for one year. Do it again and it's for life.

Turkey arrests drunken drivers and then escorts them outside of town. They then have to walk twenty miles to town under police escort.

Some other factors may include gender, age, weight, hydration and whether a person has tolerance for it. The surest way to not be caught for drinking and driving is not to drink at all. Proverbs 20:1 - "Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise."

Leviticus 10:9 - "Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations."

Proverbs 31:4-5 - "It is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink: Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted."

Proverbs 23:31-32 - "Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder."

Habakkuk 2:15 - "Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest him drunken also..."

1 Corinthians 5:11 - "But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat."

1 Corinthians 6:10 - "...Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

It has been estimated that more citizens of the U.S. have died from the abuse of alcohol than through all of the wars combined. Over 1,000,000 people we be arrested nationwide for drinking and driving annually. Anywhere from 75,000 to 100,000 Americans die from alcohol abuse each year. One of the leading causes of death among teens is alcohol. Over 8,000 people die in alcohol related car crashes yearly in the U.S. 14 million, or one in 13 adults in the U.S. suffer from alcoholism at any given time. 25% of urban hospital beds are taken up by severe damage from the use of alcohol. Those enormous figures are for only one country!

Nobody should drink alcoholic drinks. What more proof should you need?
