Winston Churchill said, “never, never, never, never give up.” Bruce Lee said the same thing. "Walk on." A poem that has inspired many has this same theme. "Don't Quit." Here it is. "When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road you're trudging seems all uphill, When the funds are low and the debts are high, And you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit, Rest, if you must, but don't you quit.
Winston Churchill was the Prime Minister over England during it's darkest war years. Hitler's Germany was on the verge of victory, and his country stood alone against the Nazis juggernaut. His words helped to calm and encourage his people. He said, “never, never, never, never give up.” The Apostle Paul wrote this inspirational verse as well. He struggled greatly to bring the Gospel of Christ everywhere. He was ship wrecked, stoned by others and accused of being insane among other things. Yet today he's still known as the greatest preacher ever. Here now are his words when dealing with the unpleasant things of this life. "Brothers, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth to those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." Bruce Lee was a famous martial artist often fought against prejudices while attempting to show the world his art form. He essentially said the same things as these other greats. "Walk on." There's a poem that has this same theme in it. "Don't Quit."

Here is the original poem in it's entirety:

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow--
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor's cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out--
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit--
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.
