Today is the time when you can catch and view your favorite day to day serials and movies in digital picture quality with digital TV broadcasting technique.
Gone are the days when you had to suffer poor picture quality and disturbances in TV reception due to insufficient cable connections. Today is the time when you can catch and view your favorite day to day serials and movies in digital picture quality with digital TV broadcasting technique. Today, there are number of suppliers in the market that offer a better TV viewing for the audience with their digital broadcasting technology. Digital television is basically the transmission of audio and video through digital signals. These signals are received in contrast to the analog signals of analog TV.

Digital television is capable of supporting a variety of picture formats that are defined under the broadcast television systems that are a combination of size and aspect ratio. TV broadcasting is facilitated through digital broadcasting through a number of ways. One of the oldest means is through DTV or through an antenna, which is also known as aerial in many countries and the technology is known as Digital Terrestrial Television. This terrestrial television provides a much better color and picture quality in comparison to cable connections.

This DTV technology of direct to home TV is further divided into two categories that is HDTV and SDTV. The HDTV or high definition television is used for the transmission of high definition video. The HDTV formats can be transmitted over DTV in a progressive scan mode of 1280*720 pixels or in the interlaced mode of 1920*1080 pixels. However, HDTV cannot be transmitted over the analog television channels as it has channel capacity issues. The Standard definition TV or SDTV on the other hand might use one of several formats that take the form of various aspect ratios as per the technology used in the broadcasting of that particular country.

Most of the television broadcasters prefer SDTV digital signal instead of HDTV because the latest convention allows the bandwidth of a DTV channel to be subdivided into multiple channels. This facilitates multiple feeds and an entirely different television programming on the same channel. Moreover, HDTV is only capable of providing single feeds or multiple lower resolution feeds which are also often quite disturbing. So, if you are still using the old cable connections, it is high time to shift your TV connection to a digital broadcasting. You can carefully examine and understand the qualities and features offered by various direct to home TV providers and then select the one that is most suitable for your requirements.
