Automotive web marketing and the introduction of platforms such as Net Director Auto and eBay Motors has made buying parts and accessories for cars much easier. If you’re like me and drive a 10 year old Honda Civic then you’ll know what I’m talking about when I say I have to visits scrap yards a lot.
Japanese cars like the Honda Civic were notorious for having complicated expensive parts, and as a student it is in my best interest to find the cheapest option – which in many cases means a visit down to a dirty, muddy, greasy and downright dangerous scrap yard. But, with the introduction of online websites this is no longer the case!
There are a good few websites out there that act as a broker between the customer and the breakers yard. Like an insurance quote website, you enter all your personal details along with the part details. The website then sends out these requests to all the parts suppliers on its database who then come back to you with a price and availability. They’ll also present all the delivery options and even offer a fitting service if you need it.
It’s great; I have never been to a scrap yard ever since I found these services and now I never have to wait for a weekend to go looking for a part. I think I have ruined too many of my precious Saturdays going from one scrap yard to another.

The online service comes up with some great bargains too, and because you have all the pricing in front of you, you can make a proper educated decision on which part to go for – remember, cheapest isn’t always the best!
