Beelzebub (Jesus was accused to be possessed by the chief demon or Satan which is the "god of the flies). In Philistine mythology, Beelzebub was the supreme god. The word has two parts: “Baal” which was the name for the Canaanite fertility gods in the Old Testament, and “Zebul” which means “exalted dwelling,” which then became a name for Satan, the prince of demons. Baal-zebub means "The restless Lord," even that unhappy one who "goeth to and fro in the earth, and walketh up and down in it.

Beelzebub (Jesus was accused to be possessed by the chief demon or Satan which is the "god of the flies). In Philistine mythology, Beelzebub was the supreme god. The word has two parts: “Baal” which was the name for the Canaanite fertility gods in the Old Testament, and “Zebul” which meant “exalted dwelling,” which then became a name for Satan himself, the prince of demons. Baal-zebub just means "The restless Lord," even that unhappy one who "goeth to and fro in the earth, and walketh up and down in it," who "goeth through dry places seeking rest, and finding none."
In the Old Testament, the Hebrew Baal-zebub, meaning the lord of the flies, or possibly, as some translations have it, the lord of dung, was the Philistine pagan god of Ekron. In the New Testament, the Greek form of Baal-zebub is Beelzebub, or Beelzebul, a name used by Jesus Christ in reference to Satan.
"And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake; and the people wondered. But some of them said, He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils. And others, tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven. But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth. If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub. And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges. But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you. When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace: But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils. He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth." (Luke 11:14-23)
Researchers captured 8 flies and allowed them to come into contact with various types of germs. The flies were then allowed to settle and walk on certain food types. 5 minutes later the food was contaminated with 9000 germs. 30 minutes later this increased to 500,000 germs. 5 hours later the food was found to be contaminated with 3 and a half million germs.
Did you know that there are about 119 500 known species of flies in the world? The fly lays 20,000 eggs at a time. The eggs hatch with 12 days. Millions of flies can be born within a few weeks! The fly is a symbol of filthiness. Here's an analogy between Satan, demons and flies.
1. Flies are carriers of various diseases, some of which are deadly. Demons also cause various diseases or infirmities.
2. Flies fly in the air. Satan is the prince of the powers of the air.
3. Flies show up right before a rain or change in the weather. Demons appear to attack right at the point God is making a change.
4. Flies distract us and harass us. Demons do the same.
5. Flies infect open wounds. Demons do the same with emotional wounds.
6. Flies are attracted to that which is spoiled and refuse. Demons are attracted to pornography and the unclean.
7. Flies are attracted to and spoil our food. Demons come to kill, steal, and destroy.
8. Flies often bring the fear of harm. Demons greatest tool is fear.
9. Flies bite us inflicting pain and sometimes causing bodily harm. Demons may also bite and cause physical torment.
10. Flies sometimes eat and kill plants intended for our food. Satan is described as the devourer.
11. Flies find the smallest of openings and enter into our houses. Demons also find the small opening and enter into us.
12. Flies often just buzz around us. Satan is described as a roaring lion.
How to rid yourself of that fly (Satan)
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." (Acts 2: 38).
"Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow. Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool." (Isaiah 1:16-18)
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:, no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6)
"The doctrine of baptism is one of the few teachings within Roman Catholicism for which it can be said that there is a universal consent of the Fathers....From the early days of the Church, baptism was universally perceived as the means of receiving four basic gifts: the remission of sins, deliverance from death, regeneration, and the bestowal of the Holy Spirit." (Webster, page 95-96) "Justin Martyr (A.D. 165) calls baptism 'the water-bath for the forgiveness of sins and regeneration,' and 'the bath of conversion and the knowledge of God.' "It is often called also illumination, spiritual circumcision, anointing, sealing, gift of grace, symbol of redemption, death of sins, etc. Tertullian describes its effect thus: 'When the soul comes to faith, and becomes transformed through regeneration by water and power from above, it discovers, after the veil of the old corruption is taken away, its whole light. It is received into the fellowship of the Holy Spirit; and the soul, which unites itself to the Holy Spirit, is followed by the body.' ...."From John 3:5 and Mark 16:16, Tertullian and other fathers argued the necessity of baptism to salvation. Irenaeus (A.D. 190), "And Naaman dipped himself...seven times in the Jordan" (2 Kings 5:14). It was not for nothing that Naaman of old, when suffering from leprosy, was purified upon his being baptized, but [this served] as an indication to us. For as we are lepers in sin, we are made clean, by means of the sacred water and the invocation of the Lord, from our old transgressions, being spiritually regenerated as new-born babes, even as the Lord has declared: "Except a man be born again through water and the Spirit, he shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven." Theophilus of Antioch ( A.D. 181), "Moreover, those things which were created from the waters were blessed by God, so that this might also be a sign that men would at a future time receive repentance and remission of sins through water and the bath of regeneration -- all who proceed to the truth and are born again and receive a blessing from God." (To Autolycus 2:16)
