Does God still hear and answer the battlefield prayers of our soldiers, sailors and Marines? Yes. Here's one example of it. In 1991, many people were praying for our troops soon to be engaged in Desert Storm. Marine Major General Krulak reports that he found wells that could supply the necessary amount of 100,000 gallons of water daily as needed by his troops under his command. However, the general was then ordered to move 74 miles to the northwest (to the Gravel Plains). All attempts to drill and secure water were in vain there. The general and his staff prayed each day as was his custom since 1974. He along with his staff and others prayed that day. During prayer time they were suddenly interrupted by an officer. He pointed out that on a well traveled road that his troops just now found a brightly colored water pump. Daily these men went up and down this part of the road but never saw anything like this until that very day and hour. There were over 20,000 Marines traveling that route daily. Such a thing would of been obvious and pointed out if it had existed before. General Krulak was delighted to find it operational. The flow of the water from this well was within ten gallons of the 100,000 projected amount needed for his troops. The troops later gained a tremendous victory and with very limited casualties. All this was due in no small part to the outpouring of prayers by many believers.
The Bible has many instances of answered prayer during warfare. Here's a personal favorite of mine. "And Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of the LORD his God: For he took away the altars of the strange gods, and the high places, and brake down the images, and cut down the groves: And commanded Judah to seek the LORD God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment. Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the images: and the kingdom was quiet before him. And he built fenced cities in Judah: for the land had rest, and he had no war in those years; because the LORD had given him rest. Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought the LORD our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered. And Asa had an army of men that bare targets and spears, out of Judah three hundred thousand; and out of Benjamin, that bare shields and drew bows, two hundred and fourscore thousand: all these were mighty men of valour.
And there came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian with an host of a thousand thousand, and three hundred chariots; and came unto Mareshah. Then Asa went out against him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah. And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee. So the LORD smote the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled. And Asa and the people that were with him pursued them unto Gerar: and the Ethiopians were overthrown, that they could not recover themselves; for they were destroyed before the LORD, and before his host; and they carried away very much spoil. And they smote all the cities round about Gerar; for the fear of the LORD came upon them: and they spoiled all the cities; for there was exceeding much spoil in them. They smote also the tents of cattle, and carried away sheep and camels in abundance, and returned to Jerusalem." (2 Chronicles 14:2-15)
Consider the follow facts. Asa was obeying God. He removed sin and sought Him, not just in times of trouble but everyday. Because of this he was given rest and peace by the Lord. When the enemy came in like a flood, he lifted the standard (or way of God) up, and was delivered. Then this man along with the people of God were given goods and wealth. All this happened because he followed the steps to reality, knowing that all depended upon God. He will supply your every need according to His riches and glory found in Christ Jesus. Warning! Do not seek riches nor anything except God first, and his righteousness; then He will grant you whatsoever is appointed for you. Many people put the cart before the horse because false prophets have taught them to do this. Rarely does God grant things quickly because pride will set in nearly every instance. Almost always it's one step at a time (here a little, there a little until a mountain is eventually formed). I hope and pray that God has somehow blessed you by this presentation.
