The Cadillac CTS-V looks like a wagon, but it handles like a car. Here's a look at its power and specs.
Although the sight of brand new Cadillac rims and flashing logos are certainly iconic enough to make an impression on drivers around the world, it's hard to think of a Cadillac wagon as a serious speed vehicle. With the CTS-V Wagon, Cadillac has somehow achieved the impossible - or at least the unlikely - with a surprisingly powerful, fierce, and fun wagon.

In a sense, the CTS-V sports its brilliant Cadillac rims like a sports car because it is a sports car. It's a wagon based on a car design, and that certainly comes out in the styling of the vehicle. The CTS-V looks unique and aggressive for a wagon, but just about right if it's considered as a car. In fact, the CTS-V doesn't quite give off that feeling of danger that you'd expect from a car with its power until you look under its hood. It looks luxurious. Its raised tail lights even give off an early Cadillac vibe to some extent, although there's absolutely no question that this is a modern vehicle.

The power's the important thing, however. The rear wheel drive vehicle sports a 6.2 liter supercharged V8 and generates a whopping 556 horsepower at 6100 RPM. Combine that with 551 lb-ft of torque at 3800 RPM and you've got yourself a true sports wagon. It tops out at around 200 MPH.

The engine is coupled with a six speed manual transmission (automatic transmissions are also available) that feels incredibly natural and responsive. Early reviews say that the CTS-V is an exceptionally smooth and comfortable ride. It has a limited slip differential and a fuel economy of 14/19 MPG. The Cadillac CTS-V will debut in 2011 with prices ranging from $60-65,000, depending on the options.

The Cadillac rims on the CTS-V lend an elegant final touch. While balanced Cadillac rims were of course important with this car, it's again important to note that the emphasis here is on luxury and good (but not overbearing) looks. Buyers might decide to upgrade the Cadillac rims for better curb appeal. Aftermarket Cadillac rims should work with the CTS-V, and dealers will of course carry factory Cadillac rims as the vehicle grows in popularity. Replica Cadillac rims may also be available.

Apart from the Cadillac rims, the CTS-V looks and feels incredibly impressive and was a really welcome surprise for the V series, which hasn't quite lived up to the Cadillac name until now. It's a tough car with unexpected power, which sets it at the top of Cadillac's lineup for family car buyers who still want a bit of sport.
