Applying For CCNA Exam
Before applying for CCNA exam, you should know that the CCNA certification can be achieved in two ways that is to get the CCNA certification you can opt for two options-
1) Give a single exam
You can opt for the CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) exam with the code 640-802.
2) Give two exams
a)CCENT (Cisco Certified Entry Network Technician)
b)CCNA ICND2 (640-806)
Once you have decided the number of papers you want to take, it is time to pay the fee (US$ 125).
The Test Pattern
It is basically a computer based test. It mainly consists of questions related to particular situations or identifying problems. It also has problems related to simulation. It has multiple choice questions (with single, multiple answers). Drag-drop kind of questions and fill in the blanks are also there.

If you are sitting for the Cisco exam, it is assumed that you have knowledge about various networking concepts like-

Preparing For The Exam
So if you plan to take the exam, then you can opt for self study, or attend some CCNA classes. You can even opt for Online CCNA classes. But irrespective of your mode of preparation, you need to take care of certain things like-
1) Be dedicated in your preparation (irrespective of the fact that you are a fresher or not).
2) Try to solve practice tests- Solving practice tests give you a familiarity with the kind of questions and you also learn to manage time well.
3) Consult different books for your preparation; don’t just blindly follow a single one.
4) You can join some online CCNA training classes; they have proved to be of great help.
Preparation Time
The time you will need to prepare depends on you. If you are someone working in the field you may need just a couple of weeks to brush up your concepts whereas if you are a fresher you may need 5-6 months of time depending on your knowledge.

The CISCO certifications are valid for 3 years only after that you need or either re-certify yourself or attain a certification of a higher level.
