A professionally written website design proposal is imperative in winning or losing a business opportunity.
A professionally written website design proposal is imperative in winning or losing a business opportunity. Whenever you are vying for a design or development project or any marketing contract, the design proposal should be appealing enough to attract the customer.

What to do?

How do you make sure that your design is better than the competition's? A website proposal template must contain your or your company's information like history, technical skills, and achievements in the past, business qualifications, and the contact address.

The next thing to include is a project overview. You should have a thorough understanding of the products and services, the goals, and the target market of the business for which you are submitting the proposal. It should also state how you intend to achieve the goals of the company.

The next significant thing to include in a website proposal sample is the project theme you would be undertaking. You can include new elements and blend them with the old elements used by the company for branding. There should be emphasis on the language keeping in mind the target market of the business. Security or any other issues related to the business should also be kept in mind.

A website design remains incomplete without including a pictorial representation or navigational chart displaying the different web pages of the site. It should also include the navigational structure and provide detailed description of what each page would include. Each page should be in sync with the overall project and should describe the project element that it addresses.

The duration of the project should be included in the proposal template along with the information or feedback to be provided from the client. If the client takes time in providing the feedback or if he makes a request during the project and the project gets delayed or if there are any other conflicts, a conflict resolution should be made in advance. The client should be informed in advance that it takes time to direct traffic to the website and advertisement of the site should only be done once the complete testing of the site has been done.

Project costing is another very important element of a proposal sample. The itemized costing and the total amount of the quote should be included. The fees would include the registration and the hosting fees. Telephone, electricity, consumables, and travel time should also be included. The time taken to create a proposal should also be paid for. Do not give too much information to the client. Take necessary precautions regarding intellectual property and copyright laws.

You can also make a proposal of ongoing website maintenance in your website design proposal. Also, mention the implications if the client decides to update or maintain the site himself. All the above mentioned points should be clearly put across to the client. They are good enough to present a decent proposal for a small or a medium project.

You should be prepared for rejection. A website design proposal may be rejected although you may have worked really hard for it. However, be prepared to confront the client on why you have chosen a particular design and try to find a middle path where both the parties feel satisfied.
