No Limit Texas Hold'em Multi-Table tournaments have become quite popular attracting a lage variety of players at the poker sites. However in order to make profits and rank within the last ten players (where most of the money of the prize pool lies) you should keep in mind a few guidelines that will help you not only to improve your game but also to make a more wiser selection of the tournaments that you participate. 1. Make a weekly plan of the most rewarding tournaments held on-line. As a poker player you should have 2 or 3 poker sites where you mostly play. Knowing the schedule of the tournaments that interest you most is a good advantage since it will certainly help you to better organize your time and to keep track of the better opportunities that lay ahead. 2. Avoid playing in freerolls and in tournaments with very low buy-ins. The reason is obvious; The more participants a tournament has (as in freerolls) the harder it is to win and even the more advanced players can not avoid the bad beats that mostly come from beginners or players that do not take in consideration the risk of loosing since the buy-in is free or extremely low in price. 3. Prefer more expensive tournaments where the cost of participation might be more high but the prize pool is by far more rewarding since there are less participants that will claim it. For example a tournament with buy-in $5 and prize pool $3.000 might sound quite attractive in the first place. But it is not really if you consider that there 600 players that participate in it, the first 30 places are paid and the first player gets only $1.000. On the other hand a tournament that has a $100 buy in might sound quite expensive but even with 100 players in it the prize pool reaches $10.000. It is far easier to advance and it is far more rewarding when reaching the final table. So choose your multi-table tournament wisely. Instead of spending your budget in a lot and cheap tournaments, it is better to focus in fewer and more expensive tournaments that will allow you to make better profits in the long run. 4. Keep a record of the tournaments that you have joined and your statistics. Statistics do not say much about your game at first but in the long-run they make an excellent source of information about your calls, your folds and your aggressiveness. Use the statistics in order to check your weak points; For example you may not realize it at first but you may play a lot of hands where your should not. Generally speaking holding a record of your hands help you reevaluate your game at a later stage where your mind can be more objective about your actions. 5. Try to stay loyal in not playing more than a tournament or two per day. Poker is a game of sobriety. Players that play all day, are tired and frustrated by previous games can not act as objective as they should be. Multi-table tournaments are difficult because they consume 2 to 4 hours of play and make concentration a rather hard skill to posses all the time. So try to be as fresh as possible when playing a tournament. 6. Play in a certain tournament, at a certain site and play again and again. This way you will learn better the strategy for that certain tournament rather than dealing with all the tournaments that the site has to offer. You might want to ask; But aren't all multi-table tournaments the same? The answer is no. If you play in a tournament with a very low buy-in the players are going to be a lot more aggressive even from the first rounds. There a lot of loose-aggressive players that Go-All in at the beginning. If you want to stay in a tournament and endure during the first hour you must not get yourself involved in an All-In interaction except for the case that you are really low in chips. On the other hand if you play in a more expensive tournament you will come against other types of players; tight-aggressive mostly. There bluffing can prove a strong weapon that you may want to use. And all tournaments have different stages (beginning, middle, the stage just before the players enter the rank) that demand a totally different technique. So get yourself acquainted with your favorite tournament, its players, its stages, its rewards, finally you will get acquainted and with the best strategy for it.
