We only mark demolition projects in terms of large buildings, with implosions that attract a lot of attention from crowds of onlookers, television cameras, complex laws, and bring down the structures in carefully controlled clouds of dust. A lot of demolition projects, however, concern small structures or only parts of larger structures. When the old, cracked and rugged sidewalk of a main street is broken up to pave a new one it is demolition. When the concrete blocks that support the old town bridge are replaced, that's also termed as demolition.
Demolition is one of the most messy and perhaps sometimes most dangerous part of a home renovation. Simply tearing down walls to achieve the desirable open floor may not be quite as easy as it sounds. It may be tempting to go through the wall with a sledgehammer, that's not always the advisable thing to do. Demolition creates a lot of dust, broken drywall and shattered wood and brick. Depending on what you are demolishing.
Old buildings need to be torn down as everything has a life so does a building. Each building usually has life of 50 years or so after that it needs to be taken down. After its useful life a building is no longer beneficial as it could collapse any time. On the other hand who would want to live in a broken old building where as new buildings are better facilitated. On the other hand old worn-out and empty buildings must be taken out as they are a waste of space to general public but on the other hand such locations are pretty useful to local gangs. Local thugs and gangs use such buildings as their hideouts, safe houses or stashing places. Arousal of such a situation declares a neighborhood non friendly. In case of gang a war the required building could be demolished as result of the attack but the surrounding building are also going to be demolished or damaged.
It is a common knowledge that we are running on space to satisfy our human desire. You can create almost everything but what one cannot create is land. According to research each year forty percent of land used in construction is created by demolition of old buildings. Industry watchers have questioned the rapid speed of demolition and reconstruction, suggesting poor building practices and a lack of consistent urban planning, along with a blind pursuit of economic gain on the part of developers, are the real reasons for the relatively short lifespan of buildings. Today, there is an unsaid but strong push from both the government and developers to build newer and higher buildings in order to gain greater profits, which has rocketed the pace of the demolition of old buildings. But it is actually not in line with the concept of sustainability and has even pushed up real estate prices.
