Systems administration professionals are now taking up the MCITP boot camp training as an upgrade from their MCSE training. The Server 2008 is replacing old systems administration networks, and several American businesses have already made the upward transition. This means that all systems administration professionals should also take up the Microsoft Certified IT Professional training so that they can learn how to operate the Microsoft Server 2008 efficiently.

What does the Microsoft Certified IT Professional training entail?

The Microsoft Certified IT Professional training is undertaken by systems administrators who want to get familiar with the Server 2008. Students who undertake this training are expected to gain the following competencies:

a) Systems administration knowledge including system management and troubleshooting.

b) Handling directory services and file structure

c) Monitoring the server functions and identifying any malfunctions

d) Rectifying system malfunctions immediately to prevent down times

e) Offering 2-tier troubleshooting support

f) Configuring servers according to organizational requirements

g) Provide engineering support

h) Carrying out scheduled scan and system upgrades

i) Setting up firewalls and monitoring them

The competencies mentioned are acquired by attending either a 3 month training program or the MCITP boot camp which runs for 10 days.

The Microsoft Certified IT Professional training program

The training program involves 96 hours of class sessions, which involve a lot of hands-on training. The class sessions also include; frequent lectures, question and answer sessions, test preps and assessment tests. After enrolling for the program, students are required to take three modules and undertake an exam covering each module. When students pass the first exam they immediately acquire the MCTS certification. However, students have to pass all three exams in order to obtain the MCITP certification.

Training facilities

The Microsoft Certified IT Professional training is offered in the state of Virginia and a number of cities including; Atlanta, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and San Antonio. It is important to find out whether there is a training facility near your location, before signing up for the training program. Otherwise, students who wish to take up the training program and do not have a training facility within their location have to travel to the official training facilities.

What you should know about the training program

The training program is meant for system administration professionals who have previously trained as server professionals. Those who do not know how servers function or lack any knowledge about servers are better off enrolling for system administration and MCSE training programs. Those who cannot attend day classes can opt for the evening classes or the MCITP boot camp. The evening classes take place from 6pm to 10 pm daily and the classes run for about 3 months. Students travelling to the training facilities should make prior arrangements for accommodation, with the help of the training institution.
