When Julian Assange entered the spotlight a couple of years ago, it was mostly to his whistle-blowing website, Wikileaks.
Since Wikileaks started publishing documents, uncovering the ugly face of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, the US government and other agencies under its payroll or influence started a concerted campaign to sabotage Wikileaks.
And of course, one of the main strategic components of this campaign was to attack its founder, Julian Assange, by any means necessary.

While Wikileaks saw its funding sources cut off (at least the ones belonging to the US or whose business lifeline is dependent on US policy), Assange became the center of a smearing campaign.
First he was accused of sexual crimes (sex by surprise – you couldn’t make it up).
He is currently held in Wandsworth prison, London, UK, in solitary confinement, pending judicial hearing. His access to phone calls and his lawyers is restricted- to soften him up, probably.
In the meantime, the corporate media subservient to American interests, begun all kind of wild speculations, regarding his personal life, his motivations for releasing the compromising documents which expose the real reasons for waging war in Iraq and Afghanistan, and subsequently leaving the US government credibility in ruins.
Yes, for the crime of exposing government and corporate lies, Julian Assange found himself persecuted, arrested, imprisoned, on a ridiculous trumped up charge.
The two alleged victims had hidden agendas, they were both infatuated with Julian Assange because of his celebrity status and at least one of them had big plans about a future with mr. Assange. She even bought his ticket to Stockholm after they spent a night together and parted as good friends. Because mr. Assange didn’t keep in touch with her on the phone a few days later she decided to go to the police and claim she was taken advantage of. The original case was dropped by the prosecutor and it was later on reopened by another Swedish prosecutor who decided she had the right to pursue mr. Assange without the need for the ‘victims’ to make sex allegations themselves.
Why is this woman doing this?
Does she believe her actions are in the public interest?
Does she believe she’s creating a better world by harassing mr. Assange?
And there is also the small matter of timing. As soon as Wikileaks started publishing the compromising documents about the Iraq and Afghan war, suddenly Julian Assange found himself accused of sex crime.
Coincidence? There is no such thing. There is only the illusion of coincidence.
It might be worth mentioning that towards the end of September, before mr. Assange left Sweden to come and lecture in Britain he tried several times to arrange an interview with the police in Stockholm and was repeatedly ignored.
Let’s take a closer look at other accusations leveled at mr. Assange and media speculations about him:
Now that Julian Assange came into the spotlight The Corporation sent out its media hounds to sniff for leftovers from mr. Assange’s past.
So what did they come up with?
There were some who took parts from Julian Assange’s personal blog, interpreted them out of context and then as you do, classed him as a misguided dangerous anarchist with a utopic view of the world.
Other journalists wrote articles about ulterior motives Julian Assange might have had for starting Wikileaks and publishing sensitive materials. To put it bluntly, he was accused of attempting to blackmail for financial gain, using the information passed onto him as leverage.
It is true, the sensitive nature of the documents released to the general public or pending release puts mr. Assange into a strong position. It is true, the release of these documents is likely to upset major interests and major power brokers.
It is also true that Julian Assange has his own vision of the future and he wants it to be heard. Yes, this vision is likely to upset the balance of power. But nobody ever in the history of mankind accomplished anything of value or brought about change by negotiating from weakness.
To be fair on mr. Assange, nobody fought and won a revolution on an empty stomach, and after all, we live in capitalism, you cannot be a good Samaritan without a great deal of money. As the bankers know it, you cannot fight a war without money. I mention war because Assange wasn’t exactly overwhelmed with love since he started the release of these documents.
In our age of corporate domination and control where governments and big institutions (such as banks) decide and control almost everything, the realization that a single person can disrupt the show is very disturbing for The Corporation’s controllers. After all, the final aim of the Orwellian scenario force-fed daily on the population at large through mass media, economic hardships and draconian laws is total control of the individual.
‘We will have a World Government whether you like it or not. The only question is whether this World Government will be reached by conquest or by consent.’ James Warburg, Federal Reserve, Senate Speech, 17th of February 1950
The mere realization that a single man can start something which is out of the Corporation’s control and even worse, can challenge and undermine the existent power structure it’s either awesome or frightening depending on which side of the fence you’re on.
Julian Assange’s genius or fault (in the eyes of you know who) was to discover the potential for radical change and individual empowerment through the smart use or modern technology (Internet).
The state controlled media was whipped into a frenzy not by Wikileaks revelations but by their own paymasters. They decided to apply their journalistic zeal to directly attacking mr. Assange in a lame attempt to assassinate his credibility. They chose to ignore the fact that the documents published by Wikileaks are real.
They are blind to the big and blatant lies exposed by these documents. They focus instead on undermining and plainly insulting mr. Assange calling him a conspirator, a terrorist, a spy, a money-grabber, a blackmailer, and the list goes on. They even call for him to be assassinated which is normally referred to as hate-speech and should have no place in the media in a real democracy.
But in Julian Assange’s case double standards seem to be the norm, so called professional journalists act like thugs. Of course the majority of these ‘defenders’ of public norms and values are spineless retards, without a vision, without a soul, full of fear, frothing at the mouth, spewing their bile against a better man for an extra greasy dollar.
There are rumors that US government having failed to accuse mr. Assange of being a spy are prepared to level at him charges for computer crimes.
Their logic is that the documents published by Wikileaks were stolen and by association mr. Assange is guilty of digital theft. There is of course an international law which defends journalists who can publish stolen materials handed to them by a third party as long as they did not take part in the act of theft.
But the US seems reluctant to break with tradition. They never gave a rat’s ass about the law in the past when it didn’t suit their interest, why would they start now?
Julian Assange is the founder of Wikileaks. Wikileaks is bigger than him, but you cannot take the credit away from the man for launching the idea. The idea that we have the right to know what our controllers are really thinking and doing behind closed doors. Especially when the world seems to be going from bad to worse.
I am convinced that there are other players and other organizations which made Wikileaks possible and continue to support Wikileaks from the shadows.
Even if there are conspiracy theorists who insinuate that Julian Assange is a disinformation agent on CIA payroll and Wikileaks is nothing more than the created problem and the offered solution will be total Internet censorship, even then Julian Assange and Wikileaks are a good thing because as always information in the Internet age is a double edged sword.
Julian Assange is a man, he has flaws, he might be authoritarian, which in his case is a necessary quality, he may not be perfect but neither were the world shakers from times past.
Julian Assange is a pragmatist and whatever his motivations, he planted an idea virus in the collective mind of the 21st century. His message is this: stand up and fight for your rights or they will be taken away!
Governments and corporations are corrupt to the core but through relentless exposure of their hypocrisy, lies and deceit more and more people will rise and stand tall with a newly found dignity and sense of self worth.
Julian Assange is imperfect, which makes him human – a much better human being than his critics who couldn’t come up with an original idea if their life depended on it.
Ultimately Julian Assange is a realist with a vision. He launched an idea, which appeals to more and more people by the day.
This idea is that freedom and power of the individual can be yours if you’re ready to fight for them. That the carefully planned New World Order in which the individual is enslaved doesn’t have to happen.
Governments are corporations are running scared.
Julian Assange brought hope with an idea and through the power of the Internet managed to raise the awareness about the possibility for a better future for people like you and me if we really want it.
And for all this he deserves respect!
