Saudi Arabia, the largest Arab country in Middle East, is one of the most attractive career destinations around the world. Jobs in Saudi Arabia are open to well qualified professionals from any and every country as they can contribute significantly to the social and economic development of the Kingdom.
The government of the Kingdom needs highly skilled manpower to help boost its oil dependent economy. Since it lacks such well trained workforce, it is giving out jobs in Saudi Arabia to foreigners and educating the locals side by side. It is predicted that as soon as the Kingdom becomes self-sufficient in terms of manpower, it will stop hiring professionals from outside. It likes to be completely self dependent and is not really in favor of distributing employment to outsiders but it is the need of the hour for them. So, when you apply for jobs in Saudi Arabia, keep in mind that you are only going there for money not to spend the entire life.
So, being attracted by the idea of working abroad, you applied and got selected for a job in Saudi Arabia. Remember, they believe in Saudization- replacing your position with a Saudi national as and when possible- thus, you will definitely be sent back home once done with work. So, you worked well and had a nice stay but the contract is over and you need to leave the Kingdom in a short period of time. Now, there are certain important things to remember before leaving the Kingdom and the high paying job in Saudi Arabia. Let’s take a quick look at the exit procedure you should follow:
-When you are either breaking your contract or renewing it, you must give a 30 days prior notice to the employer. Make your exit from the country and company a smooth affair so as to avail End-of-Service benefits. Always leave the employer on a happy note and add it to your networking as it may help you in longer term later in life.
-Not only do you have to give notice to the employer but also to the owner of the house you are living in. It is important to remember that housing contract and employment contract are two different things and both the employer and the landlord need to be informed separately.
-Also, surrender your landline or DSL connection from STC at least 10 days before your departure. You must clear all your pending bills and possess the receipt of the payment until you make a final exit from the Kingdom. Do not forget to get your connection cancelled in the STC system and verified because you would never want to be sent back from the airport for not doing so.
You do not have to surrender your prepaid card before leaving, so, always keep some balance in it. Not only is it your only mode of communication till your departure but also you can transfer the remaining balance to any of your friend’s account.
-Many professionals migrate with their families to take up jobs in Saudi Arabia. It is highly recommended that you send your family home a few days before the final departure. You can stay back and complete all the last minute formalities on your own and avoid them the trouble.
Clear the pending traffic fines, sell your car, surrender your credit cards and pay all the dues, dispose your house goods, return the borrowed money, withdraw all the money from your bank account, collect the exit paper from the airport counter, so on and so forth. And make the final exit from the Kingdom only after settling down all the payments and dues.
