Under floor heating system is a great source of heating a house. Even those homeowners who already have a source of heating the home may find that using under floor heating is much more convenient and has plenty of benefits. Installing under floor heating system in the entire house might be quite costly and time consuming. However, several homeowners instead opt for just installing the system in the bathroom or in one or two rooms in the house.

What is under floor heating?

There are several different types of under floor heating systems available. Most of these systems are either wet or dry but they all work in the same way. The energy of heat which is formed when the hot water flows through heating cables, mats, pipes etc beneath the floor will provide floor heating. This type of heating system not only provides comfortable warm conditions during cold winters but it is also very energy efficient and economical way of heating a home.
Different types of under floor heating systems
Basically, there are two main types of under floor heating systems, wet and dry.

Wet

The wet under floor heating system will circulate warm water, not hot, at a temperature of about 50 degrees Celsius. This is not as hot has a traditional radiator. However, an under floor heating system which operates this way is more energy efficient as well as economical when compared to a radiator. Also, it does not really occupy any floor space or space on the walls of the house which is quite convenient in houses which are smaller in size.

Dry

Under floor heating systems which are dry are basically electrical systems. These are available in the form of heating cables. These cables might be woven into mesh mats, cables or heating films. This type of a heating system will allow the room to reach the desired temperature in a very short amount of time. However, the only drawback with this type of heating system is that it is more expensive than wet under floor heating system.

The pipe work which is installed under the floors in under floor heating is quite high quality. Generally, Alupex and PEX are used for installation of this heating system. Both of these materials ensure that there is no leakage from the joints. The wet heating systems are best when installed in new homes since the expense of disrupting the floor to install them can be quite high. Also, if considering installing these systems in old homes, homeowners will have to deal with digging up the floor. It is always advisable to use good quality and reliable material when installing under floor heating so that later on there wouldn’t be any problems.

Under floor heating is the perfect way to heat up a particular room. It is an efficient and economic way of heating the home. It is always better to get the installation done through a skilled electrician so that the cables and mats can be effectively connected to the main electrical supply.
