It is not necessary that drug treatment programs should be of one type at all rehab centers. People can find different types of programs at different treatment centers. Some of them may not provide all type of programs but Good Future Rehab Center offers a list of programs as per patient's convenience.
Addiction experts have classified substance abuse programs into different types. There continues to be an evolution and diversification of treatment methods and individual programs. Most of the treatment programs that we have today do not fit into the traditional types of treatment for drug addiction.

However, most of the drug treatment programs start with detoxification. This is usually considered to be the first treatment stage. The aim of a detox is to clear the body of drugs and to manage the physiological effects of stopping the use that are not only acute but also potentially dangerous. It is important to note that detoxification does not address the social, psychological and behavioral issues that are associated with addiction and cannot therefore offer lasting behavioral changes that are necessary for recovery. This is where the need for other drug treatment programs arise.

Long-term residential treatment

This form of treatment offers 24 hours care mostly in non-hospital settings and last for 6 to 12 months. It has a highly structured treatment with activities that are meant to help patient re-examine their destructive behavior patterns and adopt new constructive ways of interacting with others. The treatment method can be modified to meet the need of the patient.

Short term residential treatment

This form of substance abuse treatment program offer intensive treatment that is relatively brief and based on the 12 step program. The program may last for between 21 to 90 days. It starts with an inpatient treatment phase that is followed by a prolonged outpatient therapy as well as participation in support groups. The programs are meant to reduce chances of relapse.

Outpatient treatment programs

The outpatient substance abuse programs may vary according to the intensity and type of services provided. The key advantage of this method is that it costs less than the inpatient or residential treatment option. It is also suitable for addicts who would like to continue with jobs or school. There are several outpatients’ models such as the intensive outpatient programs (IOP), as well as the low-intensity programs.

Individual counseling

This substance abuse program focus on stopping the use of the drug and also addresses the areas of impaired functioning such as social/family relations, employment status and illegal activities. It provides the patient with coping tools and strategies to remain clean.

Group counseling

Group counseling tries to capitalize on social reinforcement provided by peer discussion to promote a lifestyle that is free of drugs. Studies show that when individual counseling is combined with group counseling, there are high chances of success.
