Attempting to solve your own electrical issues is dangerous and you can cause yourself serious harm so give Majestic Plumbing and Electric for all your plumbing and electrical needs. Here are some common issues people tend to have with their wiring systems in their homes.
Issues with light bulbs and fixtures

Light bulbs should not burn out quickly and if they are then there might be something wrong with your home’s wiring. Other issues with light bulbs and fixtures include flickering lights. This usually represents a poor connection somewhere in the circuit and if the flickering occurs throughout most of the home, then there could be an issue with your main wire connection. Some recessed lights may also go off sometimes and then work again later. This issue can be attributed to a built-in safety feature that automatically kicks in when the light bulb starts getting too hot. This is usually a sign that the wrong wattage bulb is being used. And lastly, some lights may get extremely bright while others dim. In this situation there can be an issue with your main neutral connection and it can actually be very harmful to your appliances.

Dead outlets

Sometimes outlets stop working and this is usually occurs when you reset breakers. This can occasionally leave you with a poor connection along the circuit. Another common outlet issue is that half work and half do not. Usually this is a result of homeowners simply not knowing that some outlets are controlled by a switch or that an outlet can come loose due to usage over time. And lastly, outlets in kitchens, garages, bathrooms, or outdoors can go out because of a backup that automatically shuts those outlets off if the system senses a problem that may shock you.

Circuit breaker issues

Sometimes when circuit breakers are tripped they will not reset properly. If this happens, it is usually because the system is trying to isolate and protect a condition somewhere on the circuit. The second most common issue with breakers is that it gets tripped when a hair dryer or microwave is used. When these high wattage appliances are used at the same time as others, it is probably too much for the circuit to handle and can cause an overload.

Problems with switches

Occasionally dimming switches may get warm or even hot and is an indication that something needs to be improved. Another issue with switches occurs when there are two sets of switches that are supposed to control one set of lights. In these instances the switches may not work properly, which is usually caused by improperly installing a switch. And lastly, sometimes you might come across as a switch that does nothing at all. In this case if you replaced receptacles recently you may have accidentally disabled them.

If you need to call a professional for electrical problems remember that a lot of residential plumbing services also provide residential electric services and can work in conjunction to ensure that water is also not causing any of your electrical issues.
