If you have read the first part of our article, you would probably find out by now that Rio de Janeiro, Brazil is not all about what people say on TV and on the Internet. With other words, it is not only famous because it has the best beaches in the world, or because of the perfect weather all year-round, it also a great city to visit or to live in because it offers a wide array of activities to choose from. This October that passed is no exception to this rule and with this second part of our article we will continue to review what we consider to be the most important events of October in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
On October 10th, besides the already mentioned 65th edition of the Naval Academy Regatta, Rio was the host of the 15th edition of the Glbt Proud Parade – Rio 2010. The parade called attention to the importance of approving the Law that recognizes as crime the discrimination against GLBTs. The venue where the event took place is Av. Atlântica - Meeting Place: Posto Seis – Copacabana.
A two-day event is the Sacred Names of the Light and the keys of Enonch for Healing the Planet which took place between 16 and 17 of October. It was a very special congress, based on Drs. J. J. Hurtak as well as the latest book written by Desiree Hurtak, called “Os 72 Nomes Sagrados do Altíssimo e a Mente Divina de Deus”, which in translation means “The Seventy-Two Living Divine Names of the Most High”. Those Names, originated from ancient scriptures, allow to envision the varied aspects of infinity and also to distinguish its several hierarchies. This unique event was held at Hotel Sofitel Rio de Janeiro - Av. Atlântica, 4.240 – Copacabana.
Our last but certainly not most least important event is the Americas Trade Show, organized at no. 6555, Av. Salvador Alende , Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro, between 20-22th of October. It is regarded as the largest event in Latin America for the tourism industry, taking into consideration the large number of professional participants and exhibitors. Feira das Américas gathered the most important players in the economy chain generated by Tourism and it is the main forum for trading and communications in the industry. For the 2010 edition, the America Trade Show offered 800 exhibitors, approximately 24000 visitors from 40 countries and a 35,000 m2 area.
All things considered, there are great ways to spend your precious time in Rio de Janeiro. We already mentioned the beaches, nightlife and all the rest. Why not include in our schedule these monthly events? Or visit museums and cultural centrals. Rio is not all just about fun, people can actually learn interesting things about the city, like art, history, tradition and many more. Seen as a cultural city, Rio de Janeiro has plenty to offer for those of use starving on new and interesting information to make us richer in a spiritual matter and feel good about ourselves.
