Alaska yacht cruises have become extremely popular because of everything Alaska has to offer. A combination of interesting weather and wildlife make Alaska one of the best places to go on a cruise.
One of the best times to go on a cruise in Alaska is during September or May. However, depending on interests, there are better times to go. For people who want to save money, September and May are best. August and June are better months for anyone taking children along.
The Unpredictable Weather
Anyone who lives in Alaska can see just how unpredictable the weather can be. However, while on a cruise, most people can agree that the weather is unpredictable in a delightful way.
It sees the warmest temperatures during August and July. During these times, temperatures stay in the mid-60s. During late August, it’s common for precipitation levels to rise, so there is a lot of rain.
Alaska is a place where fog is very common, and a lot of people have fond memories of watching fog engulf the land as the cruise ship pulls away. Many people would agree that Alaskan rain feels invigorating.
The Amazing Wildlife
An Alaska cruise can introduce many diverse groups of wildlife and creatures. In fact, one of Alaska’s biggest attractions is the wildlife. However, it’s important to understand the different cruising seasons. There are different types of animals that get active during different times of the season.
For example, killer and humpback whales are very active during the summer and can be seen frequently while on a cruise. The whales travel the large straits and sounds of Alaska because they migrate between their summer and winter homes.
It’s not uncommon to see black bears and brown bears. The bears like to travel across the grassy flats. May is a great time to see the bears. During August and July, it’s quite easy to find bears near the salmon streams.
Caribou and Moose are also active during May, and they like to roam along roadsides and near thickets. The bald eagles like to fly over the water during summer, and they frequent streams that contain salmon.
There aren’t many experiences that can compare to a cruise in Alaska. A typical cruise is anywhere from 6 to 30 days, and the length of the cruise depends on what the passengers wish to see. Most people will find a cruise to be a very affordable form of entertainment.
