Take a few artistic elements into account when decorating your room or house.
Paintings are a fabulous and long-lasting way to decorate any room of your house. The type of wall painting you choose may depend somewhat on the type of room you're decorating and the type of decor you have in that room. Is it a living room, is it a bedroom, or is it an office? Take a few artistic elements into account when decorating your room or house.

1. Landscape
==========
A landscape painting is a painting that features natural outdoor settings as a part of the main focus of the piece. Landscapes may be free of human subjects or may feature human subjects as well. A landscape is a very traditional subject that makes an excellent addition to studies, offices, dining rooms and living rooms.

2. Portraits
========
Portraits are typically paintings of people, although paintings of other living, mobile subjects like animals are also considered "portraits." A quality portrait captures the visual likeness of a person and also the essence of that person in character, either through props or expression or both. Before the invention of photography, portraiture was a common form of art for those who could afford it. Now that photography is available to consumers, painted portraits are less common.

3. Still Life
========
The focus of a still life painting is a still object or objects, including plants and flowers, goblets, time pieces, books, shoes, bowls and toys. Still life wall paintings need not be limited to this list, however, as these subjects are very traditional and conservative. A creative still life can feature a common or uncommon object that isn't often considered for a painting, such as a toothbrush, first-aid kit, bag of garbage, computer, cleaning products, an electric fan or the contents of a junk drawer. Still life paintings are painted as a study or exercise for the artist or painted for decoration. Still life pieces are appropriate decoration for nearly any room, especially if the subject of the painting is coordinated to the purpose of the room. For example, paintings featuring food and dishes are usually hung in a kitchen, while paintings of books are hung in an office, library or study.

4. Abstract
========
The category of "abstract" can refer to any painting, representational or nonrepresentational, that features a degree of intentional abstraction. Abstract pieces may therefore feature a landscape, still-life, portrait or any combination thereof. An abstract piece may be entirely nonrepresentational, meaning the painting does not show a physical object set in any realistic or non-realistic space. Abstract pieces are a relatively modern invention that started with the impressionists. Abstract pieces are appropriate to hang in less conservatively decorated rooms.

As an art dealer, we have seen people buy art and paintings from us for various reasons. While some artwork have an innate investment quality, our key rule is still that you have to love what you buy and enjoy seeing it every day when you wake up. It has to connect with you in some way. We would not recommend anything other than this.
