Often referred to as knowledge discovery, data mining is the analyzing of data from different perspectives. After analysis, it needs to be translated into information that is used to do things such as increase a company's revenue and cut operation costs. There are many tools used in the process of mining data, including mining software. It may sound complicated, but after reading a brief introduction to data mining, it will be easier to understand what data mining is all about.

Association identifies the associations between data whilesequential patterns are mined to show future behavior patterns and trends.

There are five major elements that are involved in data mining. First, the data is extracted to the data warehouse system. Next, the data must be managed in a multidimensional system. After that,the data isprovided to business analysts. The business analysts then analyze the data with the application software and present the data in a format that is useful to the companies.
