He is also a honest child when he was young. There is a remarkable story happened between he and his father. Once, his father lent him a tiny axe which was new and razor-sharp. You could imagine how delighted he was. At the earlier time, he saw his father using the big axe cutting down the big tree, thus he wanted to cut the small cherry tree to tell one thing that was whether the axe was sharp or not. Together with this idea, he looked around and he in a little while found a small cherry tree which was shaking in the breeze it looks like that the cherry tree was waving to him and said:"hey, washington, come and try your new axe on me." Washiongton was so delighted that he raised the axe and cut the cherry tree. With the sound, the tree was broken into half and lied on the floor. Seeing this, he was excited and next he chipped off the leaves. After finishing, he played with the bald tree root in the garden cheerfully and proudly.

In a little while, his father arrived home gladly however when he looked around and found the damaged cherry tree he was enraged. Then he asked his son:"Good boy, tell me who cuts down the tree?" Washington was regreful and knew he might be beat by his father. But he never lied, so he made his mind up and told his father that it was washington himself who cut the tree down for the purpose of testing whether the axe was sharp or not. Knowing this, his father did not infuriated any more, but hugged him happily and said to him:"Well, I am happy that you let me know the truth, that's what I expected." His father forgave the child who told the truth and never lied. With this small event, Washington kept his father's words completely in his mind from now on and with his great efforts, he in the end turned out to be the first president of USA. This necessary character helped him grow to be the one who was admired by all people.
