STCW is the abbreviated form of International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers. This convention was adopted by conference at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in London. It was put into practice later on. It mainly deals with the minimum standards associating training, certification and watchkeeping for seafarers which countries are gratified to assemble or exceed. So on the eastern side we have the Atlantic Ocean and to the western side we have the Pacific. On the southern border we have the Gulf of Mexico and finally in the northern side we have the Great Lakes. When we see the physical map of America, you will be able to find the rivers that are crisscrossing the states and also great rivers like the Mississippi and many other inland waterways.

Finally they reach the shipping companies without interference by any other third parties.
