Sheffield’s a city of contrasts- even as it’s known as a predominantly industrial city, the place is also known to be the greenest in Europe and has won the Entente Florale 2005 competition. This is perhaps the only English city to include parts of a national park within its boundary; with a third of the city lying in the Peak District National Park. Of course, there are plenty of other attractions. For instance, the annual Sheffield Food Festival and the Tramlines Music Festival that’s held in the end of July every year, draw people by the hundreds to the place. The atmosphere is charged up with people enjoying the music under the sun. Peak season to visit Sheffield is from July to September, so make sure that you book a Sheffield hotel in advance.
Not that there are no attractions beyond September! In fact, if you’re planning to visit the place in November with your kids, make sure that you book tickets for the WWE RAW World Tour. Rihanna’s too slated for a concert in November. She’ll be performing with Calvin Harris. Heavy metal fans can book tickets for the Deff Lepard concert in December. They are performing along with Motley Crue and Steel Panther. Needless to say, these are performed at the Sheffield Arena, now renamed the Motorpoint Arena.
Ever since the Queen inaugurated the arena in 1991, there have been plenty of events that are now hosted annually; including the Disney on Ice and the Clubland Live tour. While the Clubland live tour that comprises of the world’s best dance acts was cancelled since last year, the Disney on Ice is scheduled to be held in November. The Disney on Ice features performances by figure skaters wearing Disney costumes and including elements inspired from movies and shows from Disney productions.
If you’re looking to visit Sheffield for any of these visits, make sure you book in advance. While there are plenty of options for people looking for a hotel in Sheffield Arena, finding one that suits your tastes and preferences can be difficult.
If you’re tight on budget, you can always choose from a cheap hotel in Sheffield. There are plenty of affordable self catering lodges, and bread and breakfast accommodations that cater to a wide variety of clientele. You can also choose from camping and caravan options that offer a great value for money, but these are ideal for the peak season visits. So if you’re planning to visit Sheffield for the Tramline Music Festival, make sure you book yourself a camping van.
