About Valencia: Valencia is the third largest city and ranks third in population in Spain. Valencia is a city of arts and sciences and is best known for monumental tradition. Situated North of Costa Blanca, Valencia is a perfect holiday destination for taking day trips to numerous beaches. The city holds the pride of inventing “paella”, a traditional dish which is popular worldwide. America cup in 2007 and Formula I Grand Prix in 2008 was hosted in this place, which created universal popularity for this city. Valencia is well connected to Madrid and Barcelona by road and rail. Valencia is a comfortable stop for visitors traveling from Barcelona to Andalusia. If you visit this place in March, you have the privilege of watching La Fallas festival or if you plan your travel in August, you can enjoy ‘Tomatina’ food fight festival. Valencia is famous for its colossal arts center, science museum and oceanographic park. Segorbe is an old town in Valencia and it entertains the kids and sometimes adults also with a theme park. It takes just an hour to reach Segorbe by train. Benicassim is another spot you can reach from Valencia which is popular for its music festival and for its beach.

La Fallas Festival: Construction and burning of Fallas sculptures mark the importance of this festival which is celebrated in the middle of March each year. Most of the festivals in Spain revolve around two things, one is running in front of a bull and the other is fighting for food. The most important burning is that of town hall Fallas and the event is known as La Crema. The sculptures are taken throughout the city and the winning sculpture is saved at the museum forever, leaving the others burnt. Varieties of audio fireworks are exploded with thunderous noise cracking the sky which can be heard from any place in the city. Desparta would not allow you to oversleep and miss any event of this festival by exploding fire crackers at 8 am, giving a wake-up call. Entire city is bundled with energy during this festival. Ladies adorn themselves with fabulous attire; there is a rally in the city followed by parade and offer of flowers to statue of Virgin. The festival also provides mouthwatering taste of “paella” which is a special dish originated from this city. Residents of Valencia conduct a ‘paella contest’, thus offering the visitor a taste of the best variety of their traditional food. It is worth mentioning that ‘paella’ does not include any seafood. The Fallas is never complete without the thick chocolate drink served in the streets and ‘paella’ traditional food. Never forget to visit La Fallas museum where you would get a chance to see all the Fallas monuments which have won the competition.
