To fathom body pH, visualize your body as a super machine which works throughout the day to ensure the balance of alkalinity and acidity in your system. This is necessary because if your body is excessively acidic you’re in danger. If the body is too alkaline you will also have problems. The body pH is measured on a range of 1-14, which helps in determining how alkaline or acidic your body is, neutral is when your body is at 7.

Body pH is important and should measure around 7.2 - 7.4, meaning it’s to some extent alkaline. For you to sustain this balance, your body must maximize its efforts to sustain it. A drastic spike in PH on either end of the scale may change the chemistry in your body, leading to various sicknesses. That is why having a balanced pH is important.

For many of us it is not that easy to maintain the balance because we live lives which compromise on our body pH balance, in turn leading to over-acidity. Being overly-acidic weakens your internal systems and makes the body prone to various diseases. This on the other hand means that the body will work more than expected to sustain the body pH in order to neutralize the acids, which also uses up the alkaline reserves.

When the pH is acidic, your body ends up looking for minerals, mostly from your bones, vital organs, teeth so that it can maintain a balance in pH. This takes place for a long time until the pH is balanced. When your pH is in check you are at a lower risk of your bones being fragile.

Many people who suffer from chronic fatigue, osteoporosis, heart disease, obesity, type 2 diabetes, kidney stones, joint pains and auto-immune diseases generally have pH issues in the body. What you eat and drink is a major determinant of how your body pH is going to be. There are a lot of foods, that we consume, leave a lot of acid residue in our body system. Taking a lot of tea, processed foods and coffee will increase the acidity in the body, on the other hand consuming vegetables, nuts, low sugar fruits and seeds increases alkaline levels.

For the body to regain its balance it takes time, but still there are steps you can take to help maintaining the pH. Knowing which foods have acidity or alkalinity is the way to go. Foods like wheatgrass, green beans and peas, leafy fresh herbs, low sugar fruits, and seeds and nuts, just to name a few, are the best for you. In order to keep your body pH in check it is advisable to buy a Hydroid testing tape, which shows you results of your body’s pH at the time of testing.
