CPR is a way in which a patient suffering from critical conditions is helped to breathe / maintain circulation. This can include both humans and animals.
|
We have often seen in television programs how one person saves the life of a drowning individual and helps him / her to regain their breath. Mouth to mouth breathing and chest compressions that magically bring a lifeless body back to action are actually the common CPR methods. Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation or CPR, in simple words, can be explained as a kind of rescue breathing that is given to people suffering critical conditions. Age is no bar when it comes to receiving CPR. It can be given to infants, children, adults and the aged as and when they require it. However, the method of providing the same can differ in each case. CPR can be extended to pets as well if they are into suffering a conditions where the oxygen supply to their brain is cut off. stroke and collapse are some of these conditions. The point to note again, is the fact that the method of application is different.
CPR helps in maintaining circulation of blood and ensures that the oxygen reaches the brain at any cost. If the oxygen supply to the brain gets disrupted and the latter remains without oxygen for more than five minutes on an average, possible permanent brain damage can happen and if the condition prolongs for more than the set time then, the person / pet concerned can lose their life. Thus, one can understand that the resuscitation must be provided almost immediately after the critical condition is experienced. More often than not, such situations occur without any prior warning and the paramedics may not be just seconds away so that they can come and provide CPR to the affected. But, if any of the family members of the affected is certified provider of CPR, then he / she can come to aid immediately. It is almost imperative for all new parents to be CPR experts, because one never knows what the child will be up to in the near or far future. Most people feel that taking CPR course is as essential as taking a medical insurance policy.
There are different types of CPR that can be taken by people in general. Parents usually take CPR for children and young adults, pet owners take courses on CPR for pets, while Healthcare provider CPR is also quite common, though it is usually for people who are somehow linked with health care and medicine. The basic in each of these is the same, which is ensuring that the brain does not have to remain without oxygen for long. Saving life is the motive behind each of these. CPR Courses of any kind can be availed through the internet (online). These online courses are very common with people who are into time bound profession. While it is a fact that it can be very difficult for a common man to attend classes every day at a set time, online courses makes availing CPR lessons very simple. Certification for CPR can also be obtained through the online courses.
