It’s head-turning sleek with 12.5 metres of smooth lines that make you want to run your hand along its body. The new Scania A30 is probably the best looking bus on the road but it’s also a great performer and offers many other benefits to its good looks.
The Scania A30 bus promises the reliability and durability required of a school bus that is needed to transport hordes of marauding children to and from school each day. It also carries the guarantee of an efficient, low consumption, low emission engine and a quality powertrain and chassis.
The rolling chassis is built in Sweden, complete with mechanical features and powertrain, and then sent to China where the body is built and the vehicle assembled. And, because Scania manages the process from start to finish, the time between order and delivery of a standard vehicle can be as short as it takes the vehicle to be shipped directly from China. This means clients can have a bus on the road in time to meet their needs.
The Scania A30 bus is a lower version of the Scania A50 and Scania A80 which are already operating in Europe. It is ADR compliant and the first deliveries into Australia have commenced.
Any day now, people can expect to see the new shiny buses on the road being given the ultimate test by gaggles of rampaging school children.
Made in China with Scania Expertise
Although, in the end, the Scania A30 bus is “Made in China”, it has the mark of Scania - and not just the distinctive Scania logo and name attached proudly on the front.
The creation of the bus begins with the rolling chassis which is built in Sweden and shipped to China complete with all mechanical features and powertrain. While the chassis is on the production line, the factory in China is already assembling the body from components sourced from Scania-approved suppliers and using Scania bus-building techniques.
Scania trained personnel, seconded to China, supervise all stages of the assembly process and, at the end, they conduct a quality-control audit to ensure the finished product meets the Scania standard before leaving the factory.
Except for the seating, the new bus arrived in Australia ready-to-work. It is supported by Scania’s nationwide after-sales service including competitive and efficient repair and maintenance contracts and a ready supply of spare parts that ensure it will be kept on the road. The standard Scania A30 will seat 57 and is designed for both schoolbus and charter bus operators. It has underfloor bins and ‘Konvecta’ brand air-conditioning which is particularly suited to Australian conditions.
With the proven Scania powertrain and chassis, the obvious benefits of mass-produced bodies, Scania trained technical experts to supervise the production and one-shop process, and reliable after-sales service, the new bus is sure to be a winner and a boon to the bus manufacturing giant.
