If you’re familiar with the London Underground, this is a fast and cheap way to travel (providing there are no delays); however, for people who are new to London,.
London is full of history, excitement and countless opportunities. Famous across the world for its landmarks and attractions, it’s no surprise that the city is teeming with tourists and visitors; thousands flock here every month to get a glimpse of Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London and the London Eye. Madame Tussauds and the Planetarium are great for school trips or for a fun day out, as well as the London Dungeons if you’re brave enough! Due to the sheer size of this town, it’s not really feasible to walk from one attraction to another, but luckily there are always City of London taxis available to transport visitors. This method of transport is often the most convenient for zipping around between different locations.

If you’re familiar with the London Underground, this is a fast and cheap way to travel (providing there are no delays); however, for people who are new to London, it can all be quite confusing. Locals usually have an Oyster card to reduce their travel costs, and know the routes well enough to jump on a tube without stopping to check the details of the journey. City of London minicabs are more costly, but they eliminate the possibility of getting lost! They’re also helpful when your destination isn’t close to a tube station. To avoid getting stung by high rates from black cabs, it’s wise to book online for any journeys you’re able to plan in advance. There are several websites from leading minicab companies that offer free quotes so you can compare and contrast; when you’ve found the cheapest quote, you can book it there and then.

Because there’s so much to see and do in London, you’ll definitely need more than a day to get round everything. Even people who have lived in the city for years haven’t had a chance to see half of the attractions right on their doorsteps; it’s easy to forget what’s on offer when you’re so tied up with work and every day life! However, there are many hidden gems that locals love to visit, and these aren’t known about by tourists and visitors. For example, Gordon’s (near the Embankment) is the city’s oldest wine bar, found in underground caves of bare brick and low lighting. It’s jam packed every night, but a passer by might not even notice the entrance. There are small markets and gardens dotted throughout London, as well as the odd secret prohibition-style speakeasy and exclusive nightclub. There’s so much more than the major attractions. If you ask a City of London taxi driver, they might just let you in on some inside knowledge.
