The day may come that I will travel down to Australia and that area defined as Oceania. From what I understand this area of the world is stunning and is inhabited by beautiful cultures. Oceania is region that is located in the tropical area of the Pacific Ocean. Over time this area has had it's experiences with volcanoes and other calamities. Three different ethnic divisions are currently in existence and each fly their ensigns from Oceanic flagpoles.
There are countless islands in the Pacific. Some years, if not decades ago, efforts were made to form a single country following the granting of independence. Micronesia was established in 1979 really. The state counts thousands of islands scattered across a fairly substantial area in terms of geography. Some islands and groups of islands that are part of the territory includes: Banava, the Gilbert Islands and the Mariana Islands.
The national flag of this nation was adopted and flown from Micronesian flag poles by the provisional government, back in '78. This ensign features 4 five-pointed stars on a blue field. The stars represent the member states: Truk, Yap, Ponape and Kusaie. This banner resembles the previous Trust Territory flag, except that it features 4 stars instead of 6. The blue color symbolizes the water of the Pacific Ocean.
Since the Micronesia culture consists of many different ethnicities, it is not surprising that multiple languages are spoken. The language of Chamorro is spoken in the Mariana Islands and the language of Palauan in Palau. No specific relation exists between these languages and the ones spoken in Micronesia or other more Asian type languages.
This country is a sub-region of the area of Oceania, which includes hundreds if not thousands of islands that are located in the western part of the Pacific. More commonly known countries neighbor Micronesia and include the countries of the Philippines and Indonesia. A certain individual called Jules d'Urville first proposed the name of the country back in 1831.
Like many other world territories, much of the Micronesian area came under rule of the Europeans during the 1600's. In fact, the Kingdom of Spain claimed Guam, The Caroline Islands, and some other territories, and created an area called the "Spanish East Indies." Full colonization was never really achieved.
One can find galleries of Oceanic flags online. The national ensign of Australia and other, like Christmas Island and such, are also featured in these galleries because they are Oceanic flags. These ensigns are especially beautiful to me and fly incredibly when hoisted on Oceanic flag poles.
