The company offers hatchbacks, sedan, SUVs and more. This trusted auto giant will now head to begin making Hybrid in Thailand. With this step, Toyota will for the first time venture outside Japan for setting up their mass production plant. Toyota headquartered in Japan, makes gas and electric hybrid wheelers in the main plant. Toyota will soon start the production of Toyota Prius at its Thailand Plant other than central Japan, late in November which is considered a strategical move of the company. The company's decision can be justified as Yen is on a 15-years' high than dollar which is threatening for the manufactures. The Japanese market is on an all time high and the manufacturers are considering to manufacture units outside Japan. According to Paul Nolasco, the spokesperson of Toyota, the Thailand plant which is 110 km from the southeast of Bangkok, can produce 200,000 units per year. The plant manufactures sedans such as Toyota Camry, Camry Hybrid and Toyota Corolla and as per the company sources they don't plan to increase the capacity of the plant. He further added, Toyota has not settled on the number of units for Toyota Prius at the first stages. According to Japanese media, Toyota will soon stop the exports of Toyota Corolla from Japan, probably from 2013 because of Yen's strong position in the world market. Back Home in India, Toyota Prius was launched in the Auto Expo in Delhi early in 2010. This new wonder will come in two versions, Toyota Prius Z3 and Toyota Prius Z4 with a price of Rs. 26.55 and Rs. 27.86 lacs (ex-showroom New Delhi). It will be imported as a CBU unit. This eco friendly car is already gathering a huge fan following. As per the company, 54 cars have already been booked. Toyota Prius, currently swinging on the roads of US is said to be one most fuel efficient gasoline cars. The third generation of Prius hybrid houses 1.8 litre 2ZR- FXE petrol engine with displacement of 1798cc. The engine is powered with 4 cylinder with 16 valve and VVT-i.
